Hot off the heels of Microsoft’s announcement that the first batch of Windows Mobile 6.5 devices will be available next month, Sony Ericsson has decided not wait any longer and finally made their not-so-secret follow-up to their XPERIA X1 official already.

Yup, that’s right. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 is now official, and what’s even better is that we won’t have to another whole year for it to become available in the market. It’s due to be launched in Q4 in select market wherein we’re expecting its price to be likewise be made known. As far as its specs go, the previously reported 3.5-inch OLED touchscreen, 8.1-megapixel camera, GPS/A-GPS, 512MB RAM, and Windows Mobile 6.5 are all still there, and in addition to that, it’s also now confirmed to come with a 3.5mm jack, WiFi, Bluetooth, stereo speakers, Google Maps, DNLA support, TV out functionality and will ship with a 4GB microSD card in the package as well as a TV cable. A WCDMA 850/1900/2100MHz variant will also be released in the future.

Of course, you can always opt to wait for the sexier XPERIA X3 to arrive, but considering there’s still no degree of certainty as to when it will be released, this is probably the best XPERIA phone you can look forward to in the near future.
