We hear that Rogers might be soft-launching the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 next week, but why get excited over a year-old product when you can now get ready for the new XPERIA X2?

That’s exactly what you’re looking at right now. Well, we're not really sure. This is according to the anonymous tipster of Engadget who divulged that this phone, codenamed Vulcan, is the successor to the XPERIA X1 which will replace it soon. How soon we;re not completely sure, but given that we hardly know anything about this supposed new XPERIA phone, its source, and the relatively slow roll out of the X1 across the globe, we’re guessing it’ll take some time before this one officially hits the market. Likewise, it’s also possible that this is just a mock up, imitation or a clone of sorts. As such is the case, we’re not falling off our chairs out of excitement just yet.

So as to answer the question we posted earlier; you’ve got every reason to rejoice over the XPERIA X1 landing in Canada because that’s a definite product already. The authenticity of this leaked XPERIA X2, meanwhile, is still questionable so it could just be a sham. Nonetheless, this does gives us hope that a new XPERIA phone is on the way. How about you guys? What do you make of this XPERIA X2 phone?

UPDATE: Here's some new pics of the XPERIA X2 that are much clearer than the one above. Based on these new images, we can now clearly see that it comes with an 8-megapixel camera.
