What the Critics Are Saying...

PCWorld

The overall quality of the phone's nonmessaging features pleasantly surprised me. The Treo 700wx has a fantastic music player. Though it's not the highest-quality phone MP3 player, it's certainly the loudest: Listening was actually painful for me at the highest volume setting. Its 1.3-megapixel came...

Though it's not the highest-quality phone MP3 player, it's certainly the loudest: Listening was actually painful for me at the highest volume setting. Its 1.3-megapixel camera is of equally high quality: Photos taken indoors and outdoors came out well, better than most cell phone snapshots.

Palm Treo 700wx

All I can say my experience w/phone has been great. No issue, no problems connecting, downloading, texting, calling. Its a great phone to have, I have owned this phone about 1yr. Only hard part of this phone is when to let go and upgrade to new phones.

I am on my 3rd 700wx in a year and 1/2. The touch screen is a really nice feature but there are serious issues with the reliability with this phone. I am having hearing issues both received and sent and like my prior Treo 700wx know this issue will continually get worse. Random no rings or alerts are sounded and my be gone for awhile then miraculously come back. I do not use this device with data services so probably have less problems than most. I use the phone for basics and mostly for the outlook clandar and am now afraid to sync for fear of further problems. I will be going back to a paper calendar soon. I suggest you choose another device. Less

The phone has a number of "glitches". I had it for 2 years with Sprint and needed to reset it (take off the back cover and push the reset button) weekly. It would constantly freeze. Synching became such a problem that I stopped doing it. My computer would randomly stop recognizing the phone and I would have to reinstall and often this created duplicate entries (contacts, calendar, etc). I used the phone as a modem, but that feature evently went awry as my computer stopped recognizing that too (Think it was a security software upgrade). I was happy to finally get rid of the phone and get hte new HTC Hero. Pros Good size for large hands Color touchscreen It's a few years old now so the prices are down significantly Cons Its really behind the times relative to what android google os and other phones can do now It is a high maintanence phone Less

End of your Contract

There is a method that Bell Canad uses to "disable" your phone. I checked the number and it was a Bell Number, it would not connect when I called it. My phone then started acting "useless", would not power up, shut off for no reason...I had not paid the bill, so I went down to thier office and some 18 year old girl told me the phone was ruined. I told them I would never use the service and was buying out of the conract...within hours of paying the bill, I got a second call from Bell from the same number and heard the familiar cracks and pings on the line...no voice, and the phone worked great. I contacted the CRTC and reported the problem. I was told that if I signed a new contract (mine was getting close to being over - I would get a "new free phone". Bell is that cunning and that dishonest. They all are. Often your cell phone service is not the phone, but the service. Trying to get you into a NEW PHONE and a NEW CONTRACT. Beware. Be smart and ask questions and watch for random calls that disable your phone. I am looking to buy a this phone and just had to comment Less

I read many reviews and I agree with most of them. The good and the bad. First, about the not earing the caller, you need to download the update audio patch found on the internet. The bluetooth works, but you always have to play around with settings before you get it to work perfectly. Myself, I use third party software, and even designed my own using visual basic for pocket pc. That is why I got a windows phone in the first place. If you are a thechy, then this is your phone. I even use an SD wifi card for hotspot download. You should also checkout the skyfire internet browser for this phone, its amazing. It will even do youtube... The freedom keychain bluetooth GPS is also a great addition for google map mobile. Less

I had a Treo 600 for 3 years and it worked really well on the Bell Canada system. The only problem that I had was that after 2 years it stopped syncing with my computer. A tech friend advised me to replace my sync cable with a sync craddle and this did the trick. Since my experience with Treo was fairly good, I went for an upgrade. I have now had my Palm Treo 700wx for a year I have numerous problems. It constantly freezes up, It has also stopped giving "on screen" reminders from my Outlook calender. Last week it stopped syncing with my computer. The process starts when I plug in the cable and then it stops after about a minute and tells me "Not Connected". This is very frustrating. I am going to invest in the expense of changing the sync cable for a craddle. Hopefully that will do the trick. Less

Palm OS, Black Berrys and all the other proprietary Junk OS's out there are very limited (not to mention OSX)and restricted and are designed for a basic mind, or a pawn type mind, some one who likes to be controlled. If your not PC smart dont buy a smart phone. Please take no offense, I say this for your own good. Not a reliable unit

It was only once in a while, maybe 1 for every 5 calls but quite annoying. I sent it away for repair and they replaced the unit. The new one is now having the same issues! This is in strong cell phone coverage area so it is an issue with the phone itself. I like the features but this issue will force me to find other phone options. Less

Poor quality phone

from Amazon
My friend has been through three or four of these phones because there are hardware problems with each one. Also, it appears these phones could break if you drop them once. I've droppped my Nokia about 30 times, sometimes scattering across the floor. Not the Palm Treo.
