Con: You have to keep it charged frequently and it loads kinda slow sometimes. Using experience: 2 years Overall its a great phone for anyone. If you don't have an iPod you can use this to play your music and awake to it with an alarm! It's truly a well built phone. If anything, you kinda get tired of it after a while, but its still awesome. Less

I first got a Mint Chocolate phone last February when my parents were sick of replacing my RazR. Since last February i'v had 6 replacement phones and if i wasnt getting a total new type of phone for my birthday, i would be on my 7th. I've had all types of issues. Two of my phones needed to be replaced because of the charging port. Maybe if it wasnt soo hard to plug it in there wouldnt be that problem. Another problem on of them had would be that the phone would randomly lock up for no reason when i would touch the down key. THEN! I had to get another replaced because the software was outdated and needed to be upgraded. When i had gotten a replacement phone back in July. When i walked out the store and tried to make a call with the one they just gave me.. IT DIDNT WORK! i had to go right back inside to get another one! the problem now is that my memory card makes my phone lock up. if i take the card out, its perfectly fine. I've spent too much money on this phone for it to keep working badly. its annoying. i use to think it was because i rough handle everything that i own but now i just plainly think that this phone is HORRRRRRIBLE! i like the look and color of it. but thats all it is. its a pretty phone. This phone was a nightmare from the start. It didnt work when I bought it and the guy the sold it to me said it was only 2 months old. He finally agreed to give me half my money back after I filed a complaint with paypal. Verizon would not honor the warranty as it was supposed to have a 1 year warranty. After being a pain in their you know what they finally agreed to honor the warranty. I received the new phone in 2 days and guess what it didnt work either. Now verizon was trying to act like it was my fault but after inspection of the phone and a week later they determined it wasnt my fault. It took another 2 days to get the phone and also I got a refurbished phone back with scratches ,etc but this time it did work. Total time on the phone and down at the verizon store was about 20 hours and I still almost paid retail. The phone is a bad design and now verizon has realized this and are no longer making this model. They do have a newer version for sale though. Stay away from this model its junk and a headache. Less

I bought my Lg Mint chocolate a little less than a month ago. Considering that i'm a teenager, texting and music was a plus, along with the bright colors. i was a little let down when i got this phone though. i like the menus and the navigation and its features. However i do not like how the top buttons are touch sensitive because of how i hold my phone when texting, i always seem to hit the "call" button which ALSO works as the "send" button for texting therefore sending an unfinished text. To stop the text i have to find the end key on the side. this is somewhat IRRITATING to me because on a normal phone i'm used to the send and end key being right in front of me. Sometimes i'm just not fast enough or even thinking to realize that "DUH it's on the side" and i keep hittin the clear button which does nothing. So moving on,... i've dropped my phone several times becuase it slides open too easily when takin it out of my pockets and it kinda likes to "jump" out of my hand. its not very durable.. but i'm rough with all my items anyway. The phone takes a Micro SD memory card which has created issues with both my phone and computer. my computer is having issues reading it and when i finally got music on it and used it with my phone, my phone was giving me errors with some songs saying that the file was not supported or was not there. it would sometimes play my songs then it would completely STOP like midway through. the keys are either too touch sensitive or NOT sensitive enough. the phone sometimes lags and it's just a pain in the butt. when i was lookin for a new phone i wanted something attractive, large in memory for music, good sound quality, and quietter buttons to text with compared to my last phone. the sound is great i think, but i do not like how the speaker is in the back so when i'm holding my phone listening to music it tends to get covered. i think they should have placed the speakers on the side like the Lg VX8100. The camera i must say is pretty decent. Some people say it's crappy, but given that one is KNOWLEGDEABLE about the phone you learn to play with the settings and what works for you. I've read that some people are complaining about features that the phone does NOT have and i just wanna let you know.. The phone does indeed have speakerphone, though only accessable when in a call and to use it you must hit the camera key. the way the phone slides open and shut just doesnt seem safe for me... being that it will probably be the first to break. its very flimsy. My boyfriend has the new chocolates the lg Vx8550 and i'd recommend that over the 8500. This phone is easily dented and scratched. It looks like it's been through more hell in one month than my old phone has in 2 years. but if you're lookin for something cute and just use it for music, it's not too bad. If you're careful with your phone and not be so quick to yank it for use its quite dependable. It's one of those "if you dont mess with it, you have less problems" One more thing. the battery life. what can you say. where do i begin? i charge my phone at night and take it off when it's done. i spend a day or two just doing my usual texting and what not, and i can't go more than 2 days without my phone dying. it's very short lived. if you must get this phone, i'd recommend a charger and a car charger as well just in case. One feature that i do like alot, is the Song ID. Some people were a bit disappointed by the misleading commerical that advertised "just one click away" from gettin the song. when actually it takes longer than just a "click". the song playing has to be mostly audiable near the speaker and takes approximately 30-45 seconds to retrieve song info. i'd say 8 times outta 10 it can identify the song. I think another feature most people would like are the end call options. You can set it to either slide down to end call or to actually press the end key. for me personally, i like the slide down to end call because by then when the keys are inactive is goes on key lock so then i have to not only UNLOCK the keys but then i have to end the call. Sliding down is much faster and easier. i really do NOT like the inconvenient location of the important end key. last but not least, with the music features, you can set it to an alarm. which i've yet to do. You can set the phone to music mode only which i don't recommend if you're a social person, because it does just that, it disables the wireless connection meaning No texts, No calls -- nothing, just simply music playing. i prefer to have that music only mode off so that it just minimizes the player and the song info shows on the screen but you can still text and do watever you'd like. Its like any other phone, it has its pro's and con's. it's just a matter of if you're willing to deal with it. if you do indeed get this, i'd HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend gettin insurance, ESPECIALLY if you get it for your teenagers. you just never know! I love Haveing music at my fingertips wherever I go and I love the Micro SD expansion port to hold more songs. I also love the ability to adjust the key control sensitivity so people with colder fingers (like me) can still use the phone. However recently I've begune having a few problems. My phone sometimes will just randomly dial somone off of my saved Numbers list for no reason. I have woken up at 3am several times to one of my friends cursing me out over the phone laying on my side table. Verison told me the phone just needed a software update and it spent an hour being downloaded and then it happened again two nights ago... also the screen scratches very easily and you have to constantly clean the phone as every finger print stands out and looks awful on such a beautiful phone... over all I like the phone and will probably replace it with anouther of the same phone and hope for the best... also verisons representatives and phone people suck Less
