The only reason it doesn't get a 5th star is that its reception is not the greatest. My wife has the Vox 8500 and the signal strength is consistently better on hers than mine. But still, it's never left me stranded. BTW, I got a chrome face-plate for mine and the blue light with the chrome surround still looks great! Less

Now days, buying this phone is useless considering all the new and improved phones that come out every other day ... Less

But I like this phone; easy to navigate, nice blue background and only needed features, no fluff stuff. I recently traded up to a new cell phone and plan and have given this one to my 15 year old son. It's got enough games and ringtones to keep him occupied with it for awhile. This is a very reliable little phone. I have not had anything happen to it such as fading or lines on the screen, etc. as other reviewers have. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! Less

The thing I've noticed about cell phones is that they're a lot like shoes. Generally speaking you get what you pay for. That being said, it's important to remember why you're buying a cell phone. If you want a slick little number with a nice metalic casing, gameboy quality graphics, and a thousand and one features then no, this is not the phone for you. If say you're an active teenager, or someone who tends to lose and abuse cell phones and other small things that need to be carried at all times, or hitman that needs a nice throw away phone with someone elses name on it, then you've found your phone. The reception is great, the plan is simple and non-invasive, the features are few but ideal, and most of all it's just a good knock around phone. No, you're not going to have it forever. And NO, you're not going to be impressing the ladies with it. But if you're looking at any of the phones in this price range then it's highly likely that you already know how you're going to use it, and neither of these things is a huge priority. This phone is worth the money because it's designed for people who know that this is not the only one they're ever going to have. Less

Screen WILL go out.

from Amazon
A wonderful phones at first, but it not like its entry level sibling the Kyocera 2119 (or 2135) which is very durable. The screen goes wacko after 1 year, you have to press HARD an the VM logo to make it go back on. The reception is wonderful and it works everywhere. If you are using this as a teenager's phone or a backup, its okay.

After working fine for about 6 months, my phone?s display screen died a slow, lingering death. Now it just shows a series of random dots that I can't begin to decode. Obviously it's switched itself into Martian or Klingon mode, for the benefit of the Virgin Mobile USA helpline staff. Did any other users on this site also encounter this unhelpful 'helpline service' that promised to exchange their faulty Kyocera 2255 for exactly the same model? I mean, what?s the point of replacing garbage with more garbage? The Kyocera 2255 has been an obsolete model for several months now, but despite my I pleading with VMUSA, they even refused to send me a replacement phone of lesser value in exchange. Seems I can only have yet another Kyocera 2255 to replace my original faulty one. Duuuhhh... Suffice to say I will be switching to another cellphone network provider ASAP. I will then set fire to my Kyocera 2255 in a very public place. Some more intense focus on product quality and the basics of customer service would do VMUSA the world of good. Avoid avoid avoid... Do not buy this phone

from Amazon
I have had two of these...it's no coincidence that the screen stops working just about the time that your warranty expires. Until then it's an awesome phone, lots of compliments on the screen color (blue). Not worth it though, it's nothing but a pain in the @ss once the screen starts to go.
