Why are there no ring notification sounds on ZTE ZMAX Pro?

my ring and notification sound is of on my zte zmax pro  how do i turn it back on?

Maybe you are in silent mode. While in standby, press volume up key. The volume bar will show up, increase to hear your phone ring.
