Samsung has just formally introduced Bada, their first homegrown operating system, to the public over in London. Their newest platform will support the latest innovations in the market right now such as location-based services, social networking integration, device synchronization, and commerce services as well as content management. Providing a familiar face to it, the Samsung TouchWIZ UI overlay will also be making an appearance on this new mobile operating system.

What’s particularly interesting to note during the launch were the companies who already signed up to be part of Samsung's latest initiative. Twitter, EA Mobile, CAPCOM and Gameloft are just some of the big names who have expressed their intent in supporting Bada.

Here’s a video courtesy of Engadget showcasing some of the apps to look forward to on the Bada platform:

We’ve already seen a purported Bada-powered handset leaked out to the internet out a couple of weeks ago. We’re not sure if that’s a legit image, but the first Samsung Bada phone will definitely hit the market during the first half of 2010 with the rest of the flock following thereafter. You can find out more about Bada here where an SDK will also be released for developers soon. The full press release and other media info, meanwhile, can be found here.

Due to the lack of an actual working Bada phone being available, we’re still a bit hesitant on handing out our ruling on this new platform. With that being said, we're very optimistic though of its chances of being able to compete with the likes of Symbian and Android especially with the support their getting this early on.
