It was back in July when Telus finally decided to officially release the HTC Touch Pro2 in Canada. After a whole month since its availability in Canada, it’s now Sprint’s turn to announce HTC’s latest QWERTY-equipped Windows Mobile powered handset in the US.

Sprint HTC Touch Pro2

The Sprint HTC Touch Pro2 will officially go on sale beginning September 8th and will come bundled with NFL Mobile Live and NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile apps and access to Sprint TV. So, how much will it actually cost? This is where it begins downhill for Sprint. The HTC Touch Pro2 is retailing for $349.99 on a 2-year contract, and believe it or not, that’s already after a $100 mail-in rebate goes into effect.

Comparing it with the its contemporaries, the HTC Touch Pro2 comes out as the most expensive one of the pack since its $150 more expensive than the Palm Pre and $50 pricier than the iPhone 3G S 32GB variant. The high retail price actually shouldn’t come as a surprise considering that it sells much higher on Telus for the same contract term and is just the same as what T-Mobile is offering. Be that as it may, it’s still hard to fathom how ridiculously expensive the HTC Touch Pro2 is especially when you factor in the cost of its chief rivals in the market into the equation.
