After gracing the headlines numerous times on the internet, HTC finally made the HD2 (formerly known as the HTC Leo) official.

HTC HD2

We’ve known for quite a while now that it features of monstrous 4.3-inch WVGA touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera, and a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, but it appears that there’s still more to it than what we've heard or seen in the past. Aside from running Windows Mobile 6.5, it will also come loaded with a Microsoft Exchange support, HTC Peep - a Windows version of their Twitter app, proximity and light sensor, and their new custom Sense UI made for Windows which they first debuted on the Android-based HTC Hero. They also announced that an optional car kit will also be made available which will turn the HD2 into an in-car navigation system.

The HTC HD2 will initially be available in France within the next couple of weeks and will roll out to other European markets by the end of October. The US market wasn’t specifically mentioned in the announcement, but Slash Gear managed to get confirmation from Peter Chou of HTC that a US version of the HD2 is indeed in the works and is expected to hit the scene in Q1 of 2010.
