Informr score
The Sonim XP5520 Bolt currently has an Informr score of 2.4 out of 10. This score is based on our evaluation of 5 sources including reviews from users and the web's most trusted critics.

Mobile phones nowadays are extremely fragile. One minute they can be firmly in your grasp and the next laying cracked on the concrete. That kind of thing likely won’t happen to the Sonim XP5520 BOLT, available exclusively from Bell.

Built way beyond MIL-SPEC standards, the BOLT can survive the kind of dust, shock, and water that would render most phones useless. Its styling, which uses an all-black body with orange highlights, is typical of a modern-day rugged phone. Its hardware features include a 2MP camera, 2-inch QVGA screen, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, GPS with A-GPS, and a 1,950mAh battery. It’s capable of offering up to 12 hours of talk time per charge, which means it’s a phone that can easily handle the needs of rugged mobile professionals.

What sets the XP5520 BOLT apart from most of its competition is Push-to-Talk or PTT, which lets users communicate with other PTT phone users either one-to-one or one-to-many at the push of a button. With excellent call quality, it’s not hard to see the XP5520 BOLT as a phone that will last and remain for many years.

Other phones may have larger screens or run better software, but you can’t go wrong with this one from Sonim if you’re looking for something that’ll survive in tough conditions.

complete junk. warranty is worthless

It's simply complete junk. It's unbreakable, yes. But it hardly works. Tons of issues. The 3 year warranty is just a joke. At best after many-many calls they replace your junk buy another with different issues.

Very durable phone

I experienced really good battery life with mine. It's a simple phone that doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but it's pretty indestructible for those who need a dependable phone

Tough phone

difficult to operate not user friendly, no voice activation or calls

Battery will not stay charged.. Even when not used, never been used yet. I've had it for over a year. Sent it to the company 3x and they said nothing is wrong with it. Only thing it's good for is an alarm clock because it's loud!!! It's supposed to be indestructible, we'll have to see!!

Would not have if it wasn't a company issued phone

It does not come with a users manual. The only way to figure out what it does and how to use it is to either sit down and push every button/click every option until something happens or to go online and download 175 pages (!) that still doesn't explain what the icons across the top of the phone mean. It gives the option to choose a network - but will only use the chosen network for a a few moments before going back to default - which for me means that I have almost no coverage. As far as I have been able to find - there is NO online support available. Every link takes me back to the 175page user manual. If it wasn't issued by my company, I would not have it. It does, however play the radio nicely. Less
