Great Phone for the Price

I am not one who likes a lot of bells and whistles included with my wireless phone. If you are the type of person that does, this is not the product for you. But if you simply need to make and receive calls, text, receive pix and check your email, then this is a great little bargain. The only draw back is that the phone doesn't have a camera. I guess I should have paid more attention before I bought it, but I assumed that cameras where pretty much standard on all cell phones these days. Other than, I pretty satisfied. Less

Voicemail delays days and broke after 1 year!

My wife and I got these phones free from T-Mobile as part of a 2-year contract renewal. We previously had no-frills Nokia phones that worked great, but decided to "upgrade" and get these more compact phones. T-Mobile signal (in Chicago) came through great on our old Nokia phones... Not so much on these. Not only do calls drop, but-- and this is big-- voicemail messages come through a day or two late! We would get meeting re-schedules, greetings, etc. days after they were sent, and would constantly have to apologize to our friends & family for our crummy phone's voicemail delay. Good thing we weren't using this phone as a business line! After a year of putting up with these phones, my wife's just 100% completely died! ...after only a year! Do yourself a favor, and get a better phone than this. I hate to blame a whole company on one product, but it may be a long time before I buy Samsung again. Less

p.o.s.

from Amazon
I have had two of these phones. One got hit while in my pocket, which cracked the lcd display making the phone totally useless. The second phone, I have to push the battery into the phone to get service. It drops 90 percent of my calls, and takes at least four tries to send a text or picture message. Spend your money somewhere else.

I've had this phone for close to a year and I am currently using T-Mobile prepaid with it. I can't speak much for the durability of the phone because i've been gentle with it but other than the battery cover, it seems well constructed. The external screen is very clear and displays time & date, battery life, signal strength and if it is on vibrate or silent mode. The backlight activates when you hold down the side button for about a second. It displays caller information quite clearly. If you only use it to make calls and text messages then this phone is a very good option to consider. It's keypad good and menus for basic features are very easy to use. Less

Great little phone with one major flaw

I've owned my t219 for about 18 months now, and overall I am happy with it. This is a very basic phone: no camera, no bluetooth. I've been most happy with reception: I get a strong signal at work and at home. Of course, your experience will depend entirely on where you live and work! I have no complaints about the ringtones: I purchased a basic ring tone (though I wish it had been included), and I don't mind the default alerts for voice and text messages. The ringtones are plenty loud, and I like the vibrate-then-ring setting. It's easy to switch back and forth between regular and vibrate modes. Voice quality has been fine. I've never had a complaint at my end or from the person I'm talking to, except when I'm outside on a windy day. That's been problem with any cell phone I've owned, so I don't hold it against this one. The buttons are nice, with a good tactile feel so you know when they're pressed. They've held up well. The phone as a whole has held up well over 18 months, with a few nicks and scratches, but still feeling completely solid. It smudges a lot, but that's a minor complaint. My old phone had a game or two to addict me (yay blackjack!). This one has a few games but none of them held any interest for me. A couple were demos that try and entice me to purchase the full game. Forget it! But no one's buying this phone for the games, anyway. The phone also supports Instant Messaging, but I haven't used that feature so I won't evaluate it in this review. So what's the major flaw? The proprietary headset jack. It's a flat connector that doubles as the charger and headset jack. Samsung sells an in-the-ear bud that has the right connector. It might work for some people, but I can't keep the thing in my ear -- it just falls out! So I went to look for over-the-ear options. There are a few third-party headsets that claim to work with the t219, and they have the flat connector -- but don't bother. They don't work. There must be something proprietary about the way Samsung's headsets work -- or there's a flaw in the design. You can hear the beeps and boops when you press buttons, but there's no audio for the calls themselves. I went through several third-party headsets before giving up and going back to the Samsung earbuds. So, bottom line: don't expect to find any over-the-ear or other third party headsets for this phone. Although I like this phone in every other aspect, if I'd known about the headset problem I probably would have purchased some other phone. In the end, I do recommend this phone for people who want something basic, and who don't mind being stuck with Samsung's only option for a headset. Less

Red Samsng SGH T219 TMOBILE

from eBay
I like that it was reasonably priced. I like the color. It is light weight and easy to work. I wish it had a camera. Overall, very good phone. I even dropped in hard on the cement by accident and it never got a scratch and nothing is wrong with the phone.

We really love the features on these phones, the ease of use, the my faves, and that the phones were flip style. When my hubby LOST his brown phone and replaced it with a different style (non-flip), he HATED that phone. Sooo...we searched eBay and found a replacement brown T219 for my hubby. He is thrilled at having this phone again. Less
