Reviews summary

Based on 34 reviews

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is the larger version of Samsung’s latest release. However, apart from size, it shares many similarities with it’s smaller sibling.

Key differences include:

  • A larger 6.2-inch 1440-by-2960 display
  • A larger 3500mAh battery

Reviewers found that the display still looks sharp and vibrant even though the resolution is still the same. Engadget says, “For the people in search of buying advice, here's all you need to know about the S8 and S8 Plus's screens: They're awesome.”

Battery life for the S8 is stellar. Stuff TV notes, “It managed over 12 hours of streaming video playback, and easily lasted a full day of heavy use - including wireless music streaming to a pair of Bluetooth headphones, snapping photos and far too much time spent scrolling through Facebook.”

Meet the future

from TechSpot
Samsung has once again produced an excellent flagship phone, and I’m sure it’s a handset that nearly every phone buyer will be considering throughout 2017. It features a fantastic range of hardware and some decent updates to the software, plus the most beautiful phone design I’ve ever seen and used... Full review

A masterpiece of engineering

from What Mobile
It's difficult to put into words what a stunning device the Samsung Galaxy S8+ actually is. The design is incredible, performance is class-leading and battery life is excellent. It really is the complete package. Our only gripe is that the design lends itself to accidents, as the Galaxy S8 is so well designed that it's also a delicate flower. If you're prone to dropping things, buy a case ASAP... Full review

A big-phone lover's dream

from Cnet
Lovers of big phones won't find a prettier device with a larger screen anywhere else, but you'll want to make sure it isn't too tall for you, and the fingerprint reader too hard to reach, before you commit... Full review

A ‘fundamentally flawed’ look at the future

from iPhone Hacks

The Galaxy S8+ is certainly a stunning piece of smartphone design. It’s fundamentally flawed, of course – the mass of fragile glass that needs protecting, the fixed-use Bixby button, the awkward biometrics – but it’s going to be very influential going forwards. Not just for other manufacturers to copy, but also for Samsung’s own Galaxy S9 in 2018, which is sure to be faster again, have fully working voice control and a fingerprint sensor underneath the main display. That will be a sure fire recommendation, but it’s harder to be so definite with this year&... Full review

King of the hill

from Android Community
Samsung ticks all the right boxes when it comes to the hardware, but that's just one part of the story. The Galaxy S8+ is so much more than its spec sheet — it is a culmination of a grander design that cements Samsung's position as the frontrunner in this space. With the Galaxy S8+, you're getting a phone with a stunning design, a gorgeous AMOLED display that may just be one of the best ever put on a phone, class-leading camera, and top-notch internals. From the gorgeous design to the build quality and execution, Samsung got everything right with the Galaxy S8+... Full review

Class leading design, but software is still a problem

from Forbes
The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will change the smartphone market forever. No longer will huge, useless bezels and proportionally small displays be acceptable on premium models. Whether you buy either phone or not, you can thank Samsung that what you do buy in future will be significantly better because of this... Full review

Perform extremely well putting out some of the best numbers we've seen

from PC Advisor
As with the regular Galaxy S8, we're really impressed by the Galaxy S8 Plus. Samsung has done a great job of making last year's phones even better. However, with both offering the infinity edge screen and the unwieldy size of the S8 Plus, there's little reason to spend the extra... Full review

Stunning to look at and an all-round winner

from TrustedReviews
I truly believe the S8+ and the S8 are the best Android phones out there. The screen is amazing, camera stunning and ergonomics unmatched. I also appreciate all the little extras that others often leave off: water-resistance, wireless charging, 64GB base storage and microSD, to name but a few... Full review

Delivers a spec sheet arguing for that price tag

from Pocketnow
This phone makes a radical first impression. Striking design, and impressive screen to body ratio, but we are left waiting to see when developers will take advantage of this real estate. Big specs on paper, but the big price tag might make this a more difficult recommendation for folks who won't use all the features... Full review

Bigger and even more beautiful than the S8

from Alphr

In essence, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is the same phone as the S8, with all the things that make that phone great, but with a bigger screen, a bigger battery, a more unwieldy profile and a higher price. s it any better, though? In my view, the answer to that question has to be no, and that’s mainly due to the 6.2in Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus’ size: it’s just one step too far. Although it isn’t over-wide, it’s too tall and although I’d be happy to carry around the regular Samsung Galaxy S8 in my pocket day to day, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus doesn’t... Full review
