Reviews summary

Based on 41 reviews

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is the larger version of Samsung’s latest release. However, apart from size, it shares many similarities with it’s smaller sibling.

Key differences include:

  • A larger 6.2-inch 1440-by-2960 display
  • A larger 3500mAh battery

Reviewers found that the display still looks sharp and vibrant even though the resolution is still the same. Engadget says, “For the people in search of buying advice, here's all you need to know about the S8 and S8 Plus's screens: They're awesome.”

Battery life for the S8 is stellar. Stuff TV notes, “It managed over 12 hours of streaming video playback, and easily lasted a full day of heavy use - including wireless music streaming to a pair of Bluetooth headphones, snapping photos and far too much time spent scrolling through Facebook.”

A gem of a smartphone

from G Style Magazine
Even with its software faults, Samsung has crafted a gem of a smartphone with its Galaxy S8+. Its not hard to grasp, has nice viewing angles thanks to its edge to edge display and has sufficient battery and quick charging to accompany it. Using both the S8 and S8+ I prefer this model but if you want something a little smaller you can get the S8 as well as they are identical spec to spec... Full review

Beyond its gorgeous looks and design, the S8+ does pack a lot under its hood as well

from VR-Zone
The Galaxy S8+ is without a doubt a stellar piece of work by Samsung, there is really nothing much to complain about other than its exorbitant price tag, but it is prudent to note that phablets such as the S8+ are an acquired taste, so if you are someone who doesn’t really need s huge screen and would prefer an equally powerful device that can be manipulated more easily single-handedly, do consider the Galaxy S8 instead... Meet the most powerful Galaxy S8 on the market

from Softpedia
It's pretty hard not to be impressed with the Galaxy S8+, despite its tall design, especially because at this point, it's undoubtedly the best smartphone on the market. OK, the S8+ does have its own setbacks, like the oddly placed fingerprint scanner, but it all happens in typical Samsung fashion. The South Korean firm has always made a more or less significant compromise, but there'll certainly be a time when all of these are going to stop... Full review

A top-ranked phone

If you want a stunning camera, long battery life, and gorgeous display in a water-resistant package, this could be the right phone for you. You just have to be willing to spend the rent money on it: The S8+ starts at about $840... Full review

Meet the future

from TechSpot
Samsung has once again produced an excellent flagship phone, and I’m sure it’s a handset that nearly every phone buyer will be considering throughout 2017. It features a fantastic range of hardware and some decent updates to the software, plus the most beautiful phone design I’ve ever seen and used... Full review
What Mobile

A masterpiece of engineering

from What Mobile
It's difficult to put into words what a stunning device the Samsung Galaxy S8+ actually is. The design is incredible, performance is class-leading and battery life is excellent. It really is the complete package. Our only gripe is that the design lends itself to accidents, as the Galaxy S8 is so well designed that it's also a delicate flower. If you're prone to dropping things, buy a case ASAP... Full review

A big-phone lover's dream

Lovers of big phones won't find a prettier device with a larger screen anywhere else, but you'll want to make sure it isn't too tall for you, and the fingerprint reader too hard to reach, before you commit... Full review
iPhone Hacks

A ‘fundamentally flawed’ look at the future

from iPhone Hacks

The Galaxy S8+ is certainly a stunning piece of smartphone design. It’s fundamentally flawed, of course – the mass of fragile glass that needs protecting, the fixed-use Bixby button, the awkward biometrics – but it’s going to be very influential going forwards. Not just for other manufacturers to copy, but also for Samsung’s own Galaxy S9 in 2018, which is sure to be faster again, have fully working voice control and a fingerprint sensor underneath the main display. That will be a sure fire recommendation, but it’s harder to be so definite with this year&... Full review

King of the hill

from Android Community
Samsung ticks all the right boxes when it comes to the hardware, but that's just one part of the story. The Galaxy S8+ is so much more than its spec sheet — it is a culmination of a grander design that cements Samsung's position as the frontrunner in this space. With the Galaxy S8+, you're getting a phone with a stunning design, a gorgeous AMOLED display that may just be one of the best ever put on a phone, class-leading camera, and top-notch internals. From the gorgeous design to the build quality and execution, Samsung got everything right with the Galaxy S8+... Full review
