The Nokia N82 is ideal for travelers who want to leave their digital camera at home. Not only is this 5-megapixel shoooter sharp, its Xenon flash helps to produce printworthy pics indoors--a first for a camera phone. And with built-in GPS and local search, you can also leave the guidebook in the hotel room. At $629, this unlocked Symbian-powered handset costs a pretty penny, but shutterbugs who want to stay connected will love the N82.

A pocketable stunner that trumps most of the phones we tested

from Wired

When we first handled the N82 in March, it was the best phonecam on the market. Guess what? It still is. With exceptional optics, xenon flash and a competent image-editing suite, it would be a decent stand-alone 5-megapixel camera. Throw in GPS, web browsing, Bluetooth, WiFi and a music player, and you're holding a pocketable stunner that trumps most of the phones we tested — in any category...

WIRED 3.5-mm headphone jack. Side-mounted hard buttons enable rapid phone/camera switching. Integrated Flickr/Vox photo sharing. Quality 640 x 480-pixel video (at 30 fps!). Sliding lens cover protects the goods.

TIRED TXenon flash can yield spotted snaps. No USB charging. Tiny keypad buttons. Accelerometer is a bit sensitive.

THE BAD: The N82s hardware feels a bit cheap, and the dialpad and navigation controls are cramped and difficult to use. It also doesnt support U.S. 3G bands and its pricey. THE BOTTOM LINE: The Nokia N82 has some annoying design flaws and lacks 3G support, but our lasting impression of the N82 is of a powerful multimedia smartphone with an excellent imaging capabilities and solid performance.

Nokia N82 is the kind of gadget to make high hopes inescapable and it is important to know whether it lives up to the responsible job of being the N73 successor. And here it is: in our view, it carries the burden lightly. N82 has all the premises to become a true bestseller, combining full smartphone functionality with the best camera on the mobile phone market. Upgrading from Nokia N73 seems the definitive choice, if not the only option.

As for the rest, who are considering Nokia N82, we say it's a buy you will hardly ever regret. Looking at your options first won't hurt though. The simple math tells that Nokia N82 with an 8GB microSD memory card costs about the same as Nokia N95 8GB, so the choice between the two is purely a matter of priorities. Whether you prefer larger screen or xenon flash should tilt the scales this way or the other.

As for the cameraphone lovers, the decision is as simple as that - if you want the best camera on a phone and you're willing to pay for it, Nokia N82 is the way to go.

Pro: everithing is good Con: only scrool pad making lots of noise after 2 month usage and sometimes the camera works verry slow the camera of 5MP is better than N95 (which i use previously). night photo within 6 feet distant is very clear due to the help from the Xenon flash light. auto rotate screen make it hard for me to type a message when i was resting on my bed. the screen keep on changing from vertical to horizontal. the sound is not loud enought like N95 sound and the key pad is really small and harf to type message. the housing is easy to get dirty and hard to keep them in a good condition.
