Even though Android 4.1 Jelly Bean has been on the market for quite some time now, manufacturers still seem to be stuck making phones with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Case in point: the Motorola RAZR HD which ships with version 4.0.4.
But while the pre-installed software does leave room for improvement, there’s no denying the fact that the Droid RAZR HD manages to wow as far as hardware is concerned. It has a 4.7-inch HD Super AMOLED touchscreen display, 8MP camera, 16GB storage, 1GB RAM, and a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. It’s quite impressive when it comes to wireless features as well, with support for LTE, EV-DO, and HSPA+ data. And it doesn’t hurt that it comes in a metallic casing that weighs less than 150 grams and measures only 8mm thick.
With the Droid RAZR HD, Moto went with what was good with the original Droid RAZR and added improvements all around, from the screen to the software to the wireless features. In other words, you get the same solid slab of metal, glass, and plastic to enjoy messing around with the Android operating system.

What the Critics Are Saying...
- Chris Martin, Tech AdvisorThe Motorola Razr HD offers superb build quality and battery life along with a nice screen and great battery life. However, its £400 asking price means that it's probably worth spending the extra for a rival flagship smartphone or saving some money by opting for the Google Nexus 4.
- Carly Page, The InquirerThe Motorola Razr HD is not a bad phone by any means, offering an excellent screen, albeit not on a par with the Sony Xperia Z, and a unique design, albeit not quite as nice as the HTC One. That's the problem with the Razr HD. Motorola has made a good phone, it's just not quite as good as many of it...
- Ian Morris, Pocket-lintIt's fair to say that the Razr suffers a bit for not having more processor power. It feels, in this regard, like a phone from last year. But let's not get too depressed about its performance, it does, after all, run Real Racing 3 perfectly and that high-resolution screen might be small, but it's bri...
- Ian Morris, Pocket-lintWhile you could argue that the Razr HD isn't a "wow" device, you can't really argue that it's bad, because it isn't. And honestly, we really like its design and feel. It might not be one of the new generation of giaganto-phones that are all the rage now, but it will suit that audience who want small...
- Paul Briden, Know Your MobileWe can appreciate the Razr HD isn’t for everyone, not least because its looks. Although better than most Razr models to date, the visual design is quite divisive. Either you’re all for that slightly industrial, slightly rough-round-the-edges aesthetic or you’re not. There’s little room for a middle...
