The Motorola Q9h is a powerful Quad-band smartphone and a thoughtful improvement over the original Motorola Q.
Preloaded with Opera 8.6 as its default browser, your web-surfing experience on the updated Q is better and richer than what can be achieved with Explorer. Add a 320x240 pixel display and you receive crisp text and vibrant graphics.
One of the most exciting features of the Q9h is an improved keyboard. Larger, raised, rubberized keys with ridges make typing on the Q9h easier and more enjoyable than other bar phones that have knobby, slippery keys.
The Motorola Q9h is an excellent value, too, when you consider that it comes with Opera, a $25.00 value, and two converter jacks: one that converts to a mini USB and the second which converts to a 3.5mm jack so you can maximize music playback with a better choice of headphones.
Unlike the shiny, fingerprint showcasing Blackjack, the Q9h has a rubberized, matte look and feel which has no fingerprint problems.
In a series of informative YouTube videos, Brandon Minniman of Pocketnow.com conducted a side-by-side comparison of the Q9h with the Samsung Blackjack 2 and found that the Q9h response time was better in almost every category. In fact, it acquired a GPS signal in only 45 seconds, which was 45 seconds faster than the Blackjack 2.
Another great feature of the Motorola Q9h is that it allows for significant customization. In fact, you can actually choose “lists” or “Icons” as a format not just for the entire OS (Windows Mobile 6), but for each section! You also have many other customizable features, including colors, icon size, etc.
The talk time for the Q9h is 6.5 hours and the standby time is 480 hours (These numbers will vary considerably depending on how you use the device).
Other features include a 2.0 megapixel camera with flash, Bluetooth 2.0, up to 2 gigs of optional external memory, and it runs on HSDPA, providing the fastest available download speeds for a mobile device.
The Motorola Q9h has everything a professional needs to create, edit and view documents, stay connected and informed, while also offering the fun extras of music, video and the ability to customize the device.
If you enjoy the candy bar form factor but were concerned over prior keypad issues, the Motorola Q9h may be just the phone for you.
What the Critics Are Saying...
- Rick Broida, WiredA pretender to the BlackBerry throne, the new Q rocks at messaging and editing, thanks to its tactile keyboard and superior Documents To Go software, which syncs desktop files and lets you create new ones. You can give Internet Explorer the heave-ho in favor of the worthier Opera browser. Alas, thes...
- Brad Kellett, MobileBurnMotorola has brought out a solid performer, retaining all that was good about the original Q and adding a little more to the package.
