The Optimus Net is one of the best entry-level Android devices currently available, and should be an easy justification for parents looking to get their kids a smartphone without breaking the bank. For anyone looking at a first-time smartphone, the Optimus Net is a decent choice. However, unless you’re really, really desperate to save money, we’d recommend spending an extra few dollars on a 3-year term, or an extra $100 outright. The performance, app compatibility and additional features and overall experience will be enhanced, something that you’ll dramatically enjoy long term.

The LG Optimus Net is priced at Rs.10,999. At this price, it directly competes with the HTC's new budget Android phone, the Explorer. The only advantage the Net has, on paper, is a relatively better battery life and autofocus. But, if you’ll go in terms of user experience, the interface, the build and the enhancements, then the Explorer trumps the Net hands down. Secondly, the only noticeable upgrade from the Optimus One is that the Net provides a 33 percent increase in the processor speed along with Gingerbread 2.3.4, and just that doesn’t make the phone a worthy successor.

In the beginning we were wondering if this one will be a successful replacement of the Optimus One. The answer is not. It is just a minor processor improvement over the old model, and comes way later to the market, where the requirements are way higher now. The shelves are already flooded with budget Android handsets, and most of them are better than the Optimus Net.
