Sprint has released a number of new PTT-enabled cellphones over the past few years. One of them is the Kyocera DuraPlus. It’s a candybar-type handset that looks tough like a rugged phone should and delivers on its implied promise of withstanding the occasional roughness during usage.
Toughness aside, Kyocera's DuraPlus offers only basic features, which include a 2-inch QVGA screen, a standard 12-key alphanumeric keypad, 256MB internal storage, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, and support for EV-DO Rev. A data. The other notable feature is that it comes with PTT or Push-to-Talk functionality, which makes it useful for those who wish to communicate with users of other PTT-enabled handsets like a standard walkie-talkie. There is a 1,650 mAh battery offering over 9 hours of talk time per charge, more than most other models.
The biggest downside of this phone seems to be the call quality. According to most reviewers, voice quality tends to fluctuate and offers a generally bad experience.
So it has its perks, but it is not without downsides as well. This phone is not the most rugged model on the market, nor is it the one that offers the best voice quality during phone calls or with PTT. But it does serve a pretty nice combination, and for less than $100 it just might be within your budget.

Despite the insane strength of this phone, it didn't impress me as a an actual phone. For a device that is nothing more than a dedicat...
