Can I buy any type of sim card or do I have to use 3G sim card to access internet?

I bought a normal vodacom sim card but it doesn't show the 3G internet on the top left corner of my the tablet even after I've bought and loaded data bundles it doesn't work.

You can put a SIM card in the Lenovo IdeaTab S6000 and use it to access 3G internet but you can't use it to make calls or send text messages.
