We know Samsung isn’t thrifty when it comes to their handset offerings, and we had a gut feel that the recently unveiled Pixon 12 was just the tip of the iceberg. True enough, we now also have the new Samsung M8920 12-megapixel camera phone to look forward this year as well.

Based on its model name alone, this should be a better imaging device than the Pixon 12 (M8910). While it does come with a similar 12-megapixel autofocus camera, the M8920 ups the ante with the addition of 3x optical zoom which, to date, is still unheard of not that common in mobile phones. Apart from that significant upgrade, most of its known specs are the same with a Xenon flash, WiFi, GPS, and DLNA still on-board. As far as its looks are concerned, the picture above is the best available one at the moment.

We’re not quite sure when it will officially be announced and unveiled to the public. However, with a Samsung event scheduled to happen on June 15, we’re not ruling out the possibility that it could happen on that day. We’ll update you guys soon once more details and news concerning the Samsung M8920 12-megapixel phone emerges.
