We previously reported that T-Mobile had to open up a new batch of pre-orders just to accommodate the huge demand for the HTC G1 and while we didn’t have any figures to really play around with at the time, we now know that 1.5 million units have been placed and that number continues to grow.

Not bad considering that the G1 isn’t the most handsome looking device on the market. Good thing that the Android OS has its back and I’m sure it low price had something to do with it as well.

However, I believe that demand will slow down once it becomes available. Add to that the fact that new phones and announcements for upcoming devices will be released pretty soon, people will have more choices and options once the Android-based G1 becomes a regular staple in the mobile phone market.
