Well, that didn’t take long. Rogers has beefed up their iPhone plans to appease Apple, adding a $30-6GB monthly data plan on top of any pre-existing Rogers or Fido voice plan. This amounts to 105 YouTube videos. Visual Voicemail is $8 and unlimited texting will cost you another $8.
Sound better than the original Rogers iPhone plans?

This is wrong again. rogers will allow you to keep you voice plan and add a sperate Data plan although they recommend that you setup an iphone plan for the best experience. The plans mentioned are 30$ for 300MB – 100$ for 6G
horse-pucky! Rogers didn’t cave. They’re smarter than that. All that they did was offer a shiny bauble to those transfixed by the iPhone. They’re trying to divide and conquer the very large opposition to their pricing.
This so-called ‘caving in’ is actually just a short-term sale. As of September 1st, the prices go right back to their original exhorbitant rates. In addition, the only way you can get this ‘price break’ is by signing a 3-year contract. Rogers isn’t requiring that out of the goodness of their hearts.
Within a year there will be several new players on the market depending on where you live. If you lock in now for 3 years, you’ll have a couple of months of satisfaction and then you’ll start kicking yourself. By the end of 3 years, all your friends and family will be kicking you as well.
Don’t be tricked by this!
Unlimited texting and visual voicemail are $8 each?
Not from what I’ve heard.
I was never notified of any unlimited texting, nor that visual voicemail would cost extra.
Whatever compared to the usual iPhone plans it is a MUCH, MUUUCH better value, so I’ll be getting mine on Friday.
Oh and Gilbert, for a limited time until August 31st $30 a month instead buys you the full 6GB. Which you’ll be able to take advantage of for the entire 3 years as long as you sign up IN-STORE before August 31st.
It was just announced this morning so not surprising that you didn’t know.
AT&T is still way above rogers
$199 for 8GB (black) and $299 for 16GB (black or white). Two-year contract required.
unlimited data and talk plan for $129 month.
Let U.S. carriers into Canada, then we can say goodbye to taking up the A** by canadian carriers.
Canada sucks for its archaic, sovereigntist ideals. For this, we have to suffer paying high prices to companies that do not have to compete.
I agree…..let US companies in…..airlines, cellular, television and whomever else that offers a fair deal.
Wow. I thought US carriers and plans were a ripoff. They charge for incoming/outgoing texts. Unlimited text is like $20 extra on a regular plan. But Canadian voice plans seems so much more expensive and add to that the long distance crap. Pretty much all US voice plans are Nation wide. I guess it was this way in the US 10 years ago. Time for the Canadian companies to catch up.
