What phones that can work with analog reception, has long battery life and has a camera can you recommend?

On the Telus Mobility network I have been using a Motorola flip phone for 5 years and my contract is up this summer. The phone still works but the display and batteries are fading. So I need a phone that works in analog-only areas as well as digital, has a camera, has good battery life (why can't this be indicated in the list of phones on this website?), and I do not need web access or endless ring tones. Basically, I want a good phone for use as a phone, sometimes in remote areas, with rare use of the camera. I read a PC Magazine review a while ago of the Samsung SCH-A890 which said it had 6 hours of talk time on one battery charge. This is the kind of phone I want. Please let me have your suggestions for what to buy. Thanks!

The analog service has been totally decommissioned.. I think Bell Mobility was the last company to do this.. The service is now digital and the analog phones no longer work. However the places that only had analog service are being replaced with the digital service, however long that may take =s

I think you'd better search your personal based on your needs.

But I really want you know that the effects of the cell phone you can experience after you've used it.And others can only give advices to you,so ,believe your choice, believe you'll get the approriate one.

It wont be completly phased out in the north because Telus doesnt own any towers north of Fort St. John, BC its all NMI which is owed by Bell Mobility. Its just costing lots of money to fix these old towers, so instead of fixing ones that break they just replace them with digital only towers. Some cell sites in the North are only digital like Tumbler Ridge, and Hudsons Hope so analoge only phones dont work in those places at all.

Any new towers up are digital only, the ones that are still standing that are still kinda new are trimode so that is why most analogue phones will still work, but if one ever failed, digital only ones will go up.

All you have to do to research CDMA is goto a search engine and type in CDMA phones in Canada and see what you get.

Thanks for your advice. Although I don't understand your comment about analog phones being phased out. Looking at the TM coverage map for BC, there are many areas, especially in the north, where there is only analog service. Even in the Vancouver area, especially in the North Shore mountains, my phone sometimes switches to analog.

How do I get the information on cell phone battery life and other specifics of phones? Is there a website that lists this information for (CDMA) phones available in Canada?

Analog phones are kinda being phased out but Telus has a small selection left. You can try the Samsung A870 it is a trimode phone and is fairly good on battery life and it all depends if your using your phone in analog areas because that is where the phone is going to work its hardest to please you and ya the battery wont last longer than a few hours in analog, no way around this either.

All new phones have internet access whether you want it or not, just dont use it if you dont want it simple as that.
