In today's era of touchscreen phones, the LG Cookie has definitely proved its worth for the company with over 2 million units sold since April of this year. Now, LG is looking to bring back one of its more successful models of yesteryear, the LG Chocolate, to bolster their already impressive collection of handsets.

Without going into much detail, LG has released these teaser pics and this to say about the latest iteration of the Chocolate:

"The new LG Chocolate will be a disruptive force in conventional mobile screens in an effort to maximize usability while inheriting the original minimalist-inspired style and iconic design of its predecessor."

lg-chocolate-next-generationQuite intriguing, isn’t it? Well, thanks to Tweakers.net, we don't have to guess anymore as to what LG is hinting at as they’ve just revealed that the new LG Chocolate BL40 will actually come with a sick 21:9 aspect ratio display that’s more commonly associated with HDTV sets as opposed to mobile phones. It will also comes with an equally remarkable 800x345 pixel resolution on its 3-inch touchscreen display. Yeah, the 3-inch display is a bit of a drag considering its high resolution, but you can get consoled by the fact that it also comes with a 5-megapixel camera (autofocus, perhaps?) and HSDPA connectivity.

Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics, had this to say as to why they've decided to resurrect the LG Chocolate brand:

“We’re returning to an all-time favorite to re-create the original experience. Over 21 million Chocolate handsets have been sold across 54 countries to date and we believe the next generation Chocolate will have a tremendous impact on the market, extending the growth that LG experienced during the first half of this year.”

As far as availability is concerned, it will officially be launched in August, and word is, it can possibly debut on Telus later this year when they’ve finally rolled out their HSPA network in Canada. Its price is still yet to be known. Nevertheless, with its disclosed mouth-watering specs, we're definitely keeping tabs on this one until its launch next month.
