If you’re an iPhone owner and has been contemplating on whether to get the Kindle 2 or not, wonder no more because the Kindle for iPhone is now available at the App Store.

Sure, the 3.5-inch display of the iPhone is no match for the 6-inch display of the Kindle, but at least you won’t have to spend $359 or so for a device that’s still relatively too big to lug around and has limited functionality. The Kindle for iPhone app also allows you to view notes and highlights, and if you already own a Kindle, can likewise sync your bookmarks across the two devices. The Kindle for iPhone app is free, but downloading of books to read does come at a price.

With Amazon releasing this Kindle app for the iPhone, there’s really no reason to believe that they won’t be making available iterations for Windows Mobile, Android and Symbian in the near future. Likewise, this will certainly make for a fine face-off between Amazon' Kindle app and rival Shortcovers. However, with Amazon's extensive book collection and proven reputation over the years, we're more inclined to get the Kindle as opposed to the challenger. How about you guys? What's your pick?
