It’s not the first time we've heard a company promise an Android phone, but this is probably the first ever promise of a dual-SIM capable Android phone since the T-Mobile G1 debuted late last year.
The company behind this ambitious mobile phone is General Mobile. They’re pretty much unknown in an industry dominated by the likes of Nokia, Samsung and LG, but if they manage to keep their word and debut the DSTL1 at the Mobile World Congress next month, that might change all of a sudden. Packed with a 354MHz Marvell processor, 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP and EDR, and equipped with a 3-inch touchscreen display and 4GB of internal memory, the General Mobile DSTL1 is definitely impressive on paper. The question is; how much will it cost and will it ever become available in the market?
We’ve seen a number of unfulfilled promises in the past, and we’re hoping that this doesn’t follow in the footsteps of the Agora. With just a few weeks left before MWC begins, we’ll just have to wait and see if the DSTL1 is indeed for real.
