It looks like the Palm OS II won’t be the only mobile OS debuting in mid-2009 as reports have come in that Microsoft has pushed back the release of Windows Mobile 7 to the 2nd half of 2009.

While Microsoft has yet to actually issue a tentative launch date, partners of the company have been expecting to get a hold of this next-generation OS in early 2009 but instead of getting confirmation, they received this bit of bad news. This definitely won’t help the current standing of Windows Mobile in the smartphone mobile OS war, and with added competition looming in the horizon, it's looking pretty bleak for Microsoft's mobile OS.

On the bright side, at least they won’t be the lone company suffering from these undesired setbacks. Let’s just hope and pray that it won’t be delayed further to 2010.
