BlackBerry has confirmed that its BBM messaging service already has a staggering 60 million users, which number is expected to skyrocket when BBM hits Android and iOS later this summer. BlackBerry says that BBM users send nearly twice as many messages per user head per day than any other mobile messaging application out there. BBM's basic messaging and groups support will arrive to other platforms this summer, and other features, including BlackBerry Voice, BlackBerry Video, and screen sharing, will arrive later.

- BlackBerry's Thorsten Heins says that 51 million users connect with friends and colleague on BBM for an average of 90 minutes every day and more than 10 billion messages are sent and received every day.
