In terms of form factor and usability, it is a home run

from MobileBurn

The LG VX10000 Voyager is easily one of the most compelling devices that has ever been offered by Verizon Wireless. The touchscreen, large and bright, works very well in general and is a lot of fun. The Voyager's spacious QWERTY keyboard is a joy to use, and the internal display and user interface are also nice. In terms of form factor and usability, it is a home run.

But it has its issues. For me, the biggest issue is email. Having to pay a monthly fee for basic email on an expensive and QWERTY keyboard equipped device like the Voyager is just sad. Having to pay $20 per month fo... Full review

The second time I got one, the charger wasn't connecting to the outlet in the phone to charge it, because it's so cheap and the front screen went black ( and some keys didn't work.) And the third one, which I have right now, just randomly turns off when i shut the phone or when its just sitting on the table, even with a full battery. So one thing to keep in mind- DON'T BUY THIS PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Less

i've had my lg voyager for a year and its still great except the inside screen but i never use that side any ways

I have this phone and like yours it will randomly turn off and the screen will change colours. Sometimes i am able to turn it on for maybe an hour, have you found out why this is happening?

So I don't understand why it keeps breaking on me. The first one, the screen went out and wouldn't come back on. The 2nd one, the charger hook up started not to work. And the one I have now the sound is going. I love this phone but I wish it would stop messing up on me. This will be the last time I get a Voyager as soon as I can I'm getting something better. Well I hope. Less

There are a few things to like about this phone -- the keyboard, for one. That's pretty great for texting. However, I have found the rest of the phone to be fairly poorly engineered -- I've owned it for a year and half. The first complaint I had is that the phone isn't that customizable. You can set your "shortcuts" but they limit you about what shortcuts you can put on your screen. I use the calculator function about 7 - 10 times a week grocery, shopping, at meetings, when with a client, etc. But, you can't put the calculator function on the shortcut screen. You can put "EZ Tip Calculator." Huh? So, I have to click in a few layers to find the calculator. The second complaint I have is about the internet. When you try to load something too large for the system, such as say, a MAP, it just turns the phone off. Or it just kicks you out of the internet altogether. It takes a long time to get to your email and a long time to load. I got the internet so I could look things up and see a map while I'm out and about. Maybe look up a place to eat if I'm in a new place. No, those things seem to be too much to ask of my "Voyager". Then, when you type in a site directly, if you just click "ok" after typing it, it tries to "add it to your favorites" instead of bringing you to the site. After the 55th time of being asked if I want to add google to my favorites (and it already IS in my favorites) I found myself frustrated. There are better phones out there that perform simple tasks (use the calculator, look at a map, look up something on the internet) without a giant hassle and presumably without being the size of a small boat. I was originally skeptical about getting a touch screen phone. Especially a brick-style with no flip cover or anything. This concern was justified shortly after I began using it as I had removed the cover film, but it's quick and cheap to get replacement film from any camera store, etc. I cleaned up the screen (thankfully no real scratches yet), put on the film and no issues since. The phone is highly customizable as some others have mentioned. If you set some time aside to get familiar with all of the options you'll probably find there isn't much that can't be adjusted or changed to better fit your preferences. I use it a fair bit and there are still some options I have to re-familiarize myself with when I use them as I'm not a power user so don't use everything all the time. It stays locked surprisingly well, especially with a decent aftermarket carry case. I've never had any accidental calls made. Usually if it does accidentally come unlocked it just goes to a random tool since the second touch on the screen goes to the shortcut menu for apps and the like. It's nice to have the option to unlock it using the touch button on the screen or the spring lever on the side. The calls have been clear and easy to use. The only issue I've seen (and it may have just been a glitch at the time) is if you try to plug in the recharging cable while on a call it may drop the call. No real biggie there once you know about it, just plug it in first or tell the person on the other end you'll call them right back if it drops. The 'biggest' negatives to me are the lack of a flash with the camera (which is kind of sad since it does a decent job of focusing before it snaps a picture otherwise) and no regular headphone jack. The only jack I believe is for Verizon's use to transfer contact lists and whatnot upon purchase or wipes, it wouldn't fit a standard portable plug. I've had it for a couple years now and on occasion the touch screen will hesitate to respond but after waiting a second or two it responds fine. Also the speakerphone is only really practical with it flipped open since it uses the larger speakers by the inside screen. This makes sense overall, but there should be an option for it to use the outer speaker like there is switching between the touch screen and inner screen. This is really minor to me however since I rarely use the speakerphone (I prefer Bluetooth headsets). All in all it's a great phone. From what I've seen the EnV Touch (essentially Voyager 2.0 I think) has added a flash for the camera, and may have a standard headphone jack now as well. If they maintained the stability and customization from the Voyager then I'd recommend the Touch for those after a new phone. If the Touch isn't available the Voyager should be a great value by now. I'm going to keep this short since everyone else so far have accurately described the features of this phone. But I will say this phone is surprisingly tough. (I have a rubberized Body Glove protective cover in it also.) But this phone has taken a real beating and still works great. I work as a welder and this phone either on my workbench or in my pocket, is with me all day I have lost count how many times it has been dropped on the concrete floor. It still works great. The only complaint that I can think of is the camera. It's slow to actually take the picture, and there is no flash. But the numerous other features on this phone make it worth the price. Less

Unlike some of the reviewers, I've had no problems of any kind with the phone. My screen is not all scratched up and I don't have a protector on it nor do I baby it. I don't use it for an mp3 but I do use it to check my email and the gps works really great. If I use it to play a game or run the gps it will take the battery down a bit but otherwise I only have to charge it a couple times a week. I'm on the 2 yr upgrade plan but I can't imagine where I'd go up from this. Certainly not to iphone and AT&T. Less

I have had the phone for about a year now. The touch screen will drive you crazy, you hit one key and get something else. Yes I have calibrated it taken it to the store , get it back and am told it works fine. You try to unlock the phone by touch screen and that is a joke. Go make a call if you have a couple of days you hit 3 and get 7 9 or almost any other number except the one you touch. This phone is like a gun, when they work they are great when they don't their all pieces of junk. Sorry LG but you have a lot of work to do on this set up. Less

Takes a while to get into camera mode. Hard to text on touch screen. Using experience: 6 months Iv had this phone for about, oh i say 6 months now. Bought it for my own christmas gift :) I like it. Iv always had low phones, like virgin mobile. So this was amazing. I dont care for bulky-ness. Its fine by me. Its so sturdy. People tell me theirs broke, but i dont see how. I bought 4 cases for 6 bucks on ebay. Battery is awesome, let it die sometimes, so the charge stays charged long enough. And get invisible sheild for it.Since it is touch screen.Call is CRISP AND VERY CLEAR... But i have to switch to ATT, so i can no longer have this phone...If ATT gets voyager anytime soon, im so getting it! Voyager Titanium Less
