If you're hankering for a piece of Windows Mobile pie, and happen to be a fan of mobile phones from LG, the Incite should get your juices flowing

The Incite from LG is a mixed bag. It has some solid features, such as the camera and browsing speeds, but also has a lot of quirks. It is clear that LG is testing the water with this device. It has a lot more work to do to integrate its menus with that of Windows Mobile and make them more usable. The touch integration could be a lot better. Where the LG stuff is perfectly fine for touch, the WinMo software is not. The lack of an on-board stylus makes the Windows Mobile UI all the more difficult to use.

Where the Incite excels at connectivity and messaging, it only rates "satisfactory" at things such as music playback, video capture and call quality.

I'd chalk the Incite up to a nice experiment from LG, but would wait until the company takes another shot before jumping on the LG smartphone bandwagon. LG still has a bit of a growth curve to surmount.

Just too difficult to use

from MobileBurn

In the end, the LG Incite is just too difficult to use. The phone is slow overall, and the display can only be used acceptably with a stylus. The fact that you have to tie the included stylus to the phone in order to keep it nearby, however, is unacceptable for a device that is so hard to use with fingers only. LG did a nice job with the Windows Mobile Today screen, and added an interesting finger scrolling system, but otherwise has failed to deliver the goods from a real world use perspective. In the end, we have to give the LG Incite a "Not Recommended" rating....

The LG Incite is the worst phone I've ever owned. The touchscreen buttons are small and hard to push, and the separate stylus hanging by a string off of the corner is just a pain!!! You would think they'd have come up with a way to integrate it into the case. I've had to "hard reset" several times a year, and reload and re-setup all of my apps, contacts, etc. Make sure you have everything backed up on an SD card, cause this will make it easier. I hate the touch screen and wish I would have gotten a smartphone with a keypad instead. Windows mobile is just okay. Mobile office feature is nice but doesn't outweigh the bad features. Not many apps out there for this one, unless you're willing to shell out a few bucks! All in all, my experience has made me hesitant to trust ANY LG product, and I'm not sure I would trust a windows phone either. The pricey Ipods with a touchpad are not going to be my first choice for my next phone. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with this hunk of junk for another 5 months. Haven't decided if I'll stick with AT&T (and their crappy phones) or try another carrier with better phones and services. The Droid looks AWESOME!!! Less

I haven't used the stock windows 6.1 OS in a looooong time, a stripped down version of 6.5 with some fixes preinstalled and it's almost a whole different phone. used SPB shell for a while, and a very nice, very modified WM 6.5 theme, it's almost like I've had 4 different phones :) Less

Sorry - this is a bad phone. I went through 3 of these during the warranty period with ATT Wireless. All suffered the same annoying glitches... slowness, hesitations, lockups, loss of touchscreen accuracy and touchscreen *functioning* for that matter. If you get one of these, be sure and buy a box of paperclips because you are going to be sticking one into the reset hole every day or two. If it had worked correctly, it would have been a nice phone. If you are thinking about getting this, get an iPhone instead. They work. Less

Hello nightmare- take a number, please. I begin with the calendar sync. It's great in theory but it hardly ever works. I've had this phone for A YEAR and I'm counting down the days until I can trade it in!!! There are MAJOR glitches with the Windows Mobile sync software- it's mostly when my computer doesn't recognize my phone's USB is connected because the software fails to detect it's plugged in! It feels like a kick in the groin every time I get a "disconnected" message when the USB is IN the port. Seriously, I'm not making this up. Then I have to do a soft reboot, sprinkle some fairy dust, and behold- it works after I plug and unplug the @-&$#! thing like 2 or 3 times. It's horrible. And LG / ATT doesn't bother giving the user software updates for their mistakes, either. And the glare?! Forget using this phone on a sunny day, or taking pictures for that matter. It's touchpad is so sensitive, one false move of your finger tip and you're sending pictures to "HP Snapfish" faster than you can say "are my 2 years of false inprisonment up?" True to form, LG sticks it to the user again by connecting us to an unwanted photo account that you CAN NOT, I repeat, CAN NOT remove. Incite is a bucket of bolts inside and out. It's no wonder Amazon wants to give this piece of junk away for 1 cent. That's all it's worth. Less

I received this phone free for renewing my contract for another 2 yrs. with AT&T. Had I known that I would have all the problems that I have with the phone, I would have just purchased another phone and kept my month to month contract with the company. The phone has a lot of features when it's working properly, but most of the time i can't access my contact list or pull up some of the tools I want becuase the phone just doesn't want to act right. I would not by any means pay for this phone, it has many glitches that need to be worked out. Although I'm stuck with the phone until my contract ends, I'm extremely happy I didn't pay for it. Less

LG Incite has many issues

from Amazon
quite simply, I've had this "smartphone" for 6 months now and hate it. It has so many issues I don't have time to list them all. This device is nothing but frustrating to use, it always needs a reset to be responsive. The basic function of a phone is defective as well, 50% of the time the mic does not work. Stay away from this piece of junk!

Now the bad things - 1. Stability - I have never use a phone that is so unstable!! It froze more than 10 times everyday. Sometimes pressing the reset button would not bring it back so you have to physically remove the battery to have it reset. 2. the shipped ROM is terrible. not responsive at all. I updated it with latest version from LG website and it seems to be better than the shipped ROM. 3. Wanna reset by removing battery? The back cover is so slipery that it's almost impossible to remove it. Stay away from it. Less

I got this phone because i did not want an iPhone (proprietary = suck) and i was getting too impatient for a cool Google Android AKA Linux Mobile to come out so i got this. Big mistake. After reinstalling the OS over and over due to extreme lag when even trying a simple task such as texting. I came to the conclusion that this phone is a pathetic excuse for a smart phone and whoever designed it must find a handy window to jump out of or go back to flipping burgers. This phone has been recalled for good reason. Other issues are the screen responsiveness is slow and you have to use a stylus which isn't really so bad but why was a small holster for said stylus NOT included? This phone rises to a level of mediocrity even if you are using it as a very basic smart phone. My recommendation is to avoid it at all costs and get an HTC with Windows Mobile 6.5 or any AT&T phone that uses Android as its OS..LINUX people..HELLO..it's UNIX based yeah UNIX the same thing Apple copied to make Mac OS and ergo iPhone. It does offer Office Mobile however from what i have experienced it will not understand any of the new Office file formats. So if you are needing some portability in your business apps that could be a decision maker however Android being LINUX could OpenOffice be far behind? All in all this is a horrid phone and the worst i have owned and i have owned a lot. This phone has turned me off to both LG and Windows Mobile. Less
