Just feel right in your hand

from Wired

Some phones just feel right in your hand. The enV is one of them. And with its long, narrow body (4.6 x 2.1 inches), it's also a pleasure to hold alongside your head. The keyboard, accessed by flipping open the phone, approaches perfection: It's wide, spacious, and equipped with a dedicated number row. Now, if only more of the phone's functions were available via the external screen: You'll often find yourself flipping when you don't want to...

WIRED: Navigable menu system. Loud, clear speakerphone. Flash-equipped camera snaps sharp photos. V Cast music and video support.

TIRED: Video playback is rough. Internal 2.2-inch screen seems disproportionately small. No Wi-Fi. IM software treats each message as SMS, which could lead to huge bills. GPS and POP email services cost extra.

Con: way too thick, it creates a big problem trying to get it in and out of my skinny jeans. it starts to freeze and shut down, but thats just because its old. so tomorrow im getting a versa. The charger port continues to go bad...numerous replacements and same problem...inability to charge due to port problems. We even had sparks on one of the phones when the charger port broke while plugging in the charger. The phone is great for texting and taking pictures; however, very hard to hear on this phone and those you are calling have an even harder time understanding you as it has an unclear "tunnel" sound. If you decide to go with this phone make certain you purchase the warranty to go along with it or you will find yourself paying more than you ever anticipated. Less

I've had this phone for over a year, and I've had the same complaint from about 2 months into owning it: call quality is unreliable. I have owned several other brand phones previously and have never had a problem with call quality where I live. The enV sounds tinny half the time, or it cuts out for both me and the other party during a conversation. The good: The QWERTY keyboard is fantastic and easy to use. Good ring volume. Strong vibrate. SD-mini memory card slot. The bad: Verizon-disabled features (par for the course with Verizon). Limit on how many incoming text messages one can save. Poor ringtone selection - you have to purchase more from Verizon. It is virtually impossible to get the phone to upload and use ringtones from a memory card. The ugly: Call quality Totally Unreliable. Less

AWESOME PHONE

from Amazon
I think that this phone is the absolute best! Highly reccomend it. The keyboard make for very easy texting. I have had mine abou a year and a half and still love it. There are two things that I would change: 1) the volume on it is not loud enough 2) would like to have a green colored bluetooth headset to go with it.

Keyboard is great; the rest is...not great.

The good: - If you're going to send text messages, the keyboard is awesome. The good: - If you're going to send text messages, the keyboard is awesome. It's a decent size, and pretty durable (my backspace key is not very responsive these days, but the rest are good). - I've had this phone for about 11 months now, and I drop/batter/abuse it terribly. So I can safely say it's been very durable. - The battery life started out great and is still pretty good. It averages about 2 days of use (alarm clock, about an hour of phone conversations, and a dozen texts per day in my case) before it needs to be charged. - The menus and user interface are the standard Verizon setup. The not-so-good: - Text messages have a storage limit (I believe it's set at 50) for the inbox only. This is unbelievably, supremely annoying. The outbox has no limit (that I've run into), and it has nothing to do with settings or actual storage space available. It *will* bother you if you tend to keep your texts around. This would have been a deal-breaker for me on this phone if I'd known. - The sound quality is very bad. I have trouble understanding almost everyone who calls me, and others also have issues hearing me. I tested another phone from my house to see if it was a network issue, and it was fine. This may have been fixed in newer models (at least I hope so). Great in some regards, utterly unusable in others. Unfortunately the unusable aspects are pretty central. Less
