“The Kyocera DuraXE for AT&T is an ultra-rugged feature phone that runs Android, but you definitely won't confuse it for a smartphone.”
“The Kyocera DuraXE is an enigma. This rugged clamshell is a tough little beast, no question there. It covers all the survivability traits needed by today's outdoor workforce, including resistance to abuse and water damage. Kyocera did a great job nailing the basics, such as call quality, battery life, and usability. Signal performance was very good.”

In Depth
While technically a rugged phone, it features a few options that also make it ideal for audio lovers.
The rugged clamshell design will take a few drops or dings if you get too into your music, the speaker gets good and loud while remaining clear, and there’s 8GB of internal storage — a real rarity in the flip phone market.
If you toss in a 32GB microSD card as well, you could store hours of podcasts or music without worry.
There’s also a 2.4-inch display to make reading texts or checking call notifications easy and 4G LTE support should you need to look up directions or check movie times using the basic web browser.

How do I fix a blank screen on my Kyocera DuraXE after dropping it?
If your Kyocera DuraXE’s inner screen is blank after a drop, try these steps:
- Perform a soft reset: Power off the phone, remove the battery, wait 10 seconds, reinsert the battery, and power on.
- Check the screen connector: If the reset doesn’t work, carefully open the flip cover by removing screws and prying off the cover plate. Disconnect and reconnect the thin film connector that attaches the screen to the phone.
- Inspect for hardware damage: Look for a blown fuse near the screen’s flex cable connector or other visible damage.
Important: Opening your phone may void your warranty and risks further damage. If you’re not comfortable with internal repairs, contact Kyocera support or visit an authorized repair center.

I had the same problem after dropping it once too many times. I disassembled it by carefully prying and lifting the cover plates and removing screws. The problem was in the flip top. I had to a small bladed screwdriver and unstick the cover on the flip top where Kyocera is written. Then take out all the screws. and remove cover plate, again by prying. I them pulled out and reconnected the plug on the thin film connectors.
