About Zoomer Wireless

What Zoomer Wireless was

Zoomer Wireless was a cell phone service for members of CARP, the association for older Canadians, sold under the Zoomer name. It was run by Cityfone, a company Rogers owned, on the Rogers network, alongside Cityfone’s other brands, SimplyConnect and Primus Wireless. It sold monthly plans with simple phones and was marketed to CARP members across Canada.

What happened

Rogers ended Cityfone service, including Zoomer Wireless, on December 31, 2024. The zoomerwireless.ca site now shows Rogers’ closure notice. In its place, Rogers runs a program called Rogers powered by Zoomer for CARP members, sold through its dealer Red Wireless online rather than in stores. That program is a Rogers plan, not a return of Zoomer Wireless, and you need to confirm your CARP membership to join.

Zoomer sells their travel PACs on a 3G network. Most countries are removing their 3G networks and operating on 4 and 5G. We no ght a travel pack for Zone 2 Europe and could not use any data or phone in Portugal. It appears most of Portugal has moved to using only 4 and 5 G. This left us vulnerabl...

I am supposed to have LTE data, however only ever have 4G. Terrible data service, half the time I don't have access to my data. Texting is awful, constant cannot send error messages. Customer service is horrific. The woman treated me like I was a dummy. Lied to me and told me LTE data and 4G are ...

I have 3 lines and will move to another service provider since they refused to waive $100 roaming charge which happened for the first time since I got Zoomer. My account has been clean with no overdue payments. Very disappointing!!!

Great. Nobody knows and nobody cares. I think I will stick with one of the big boy networks. At least they only ignore you for so long.

Hi Suzanne. You need internet connection to do that. If your phone is Wi-Fi capable, you can simply connect to a Wi-Fi network to send an email. Data pay per use rate while roaming is $15/MB.

Hi Peter. I'm not perfectly sure how to skip to the end of a message but I know how to increase the number of voicemails stored. You need to purchase Enhanced voicemail add-on for $5/month. It includes mini voicemail, call display and name display to Enhanced voicemail, call display and name display. Store 35 voicemail messages up to 5 minutes each in length. Messages stored up to 10 days.

Maybe trying out on wifi can be very hard. This means your signal is low or maybe a little bit hectic you can try out on looking for different hot spots and get a better signal in the long run. Maybe considering to put on some work on how they put the best spots for you to work on. I believe that you can get a better signal by making an effort on the rest of the job and taking a lot of things into account where you could get that wifi an upgrade at the very least as well.

Hi Peter. Are you checking if Zoomer Wireless have Wi-Fi calling? If so, at the time of writing, they still don't offer this.

Oh. I have never thought about doing this before. It didn't even cross my mind. i will try to learn more about this and I'll ask my friends if they know anything about how to do this. It actually got me really curious. Might send a more helpful answer here if I learn something about how this can be made possible.

Hi SC. Unfortunately the haters love to leave reviews and those who have had decent experiences don't really take the time to share helpful feedback. This is the case with virtually all carriers. The reviews often get used to vent frustration. We're looking at ways to improve the carrier reviews and are making a couple changes soon. Any feedback / ideas you have surrounding that would be welcome.

Hi there. When was the phone bought and are you still in contract? I believe what you have there is a phone that is not locked. As per Cell Phone Freedom Act: wireless phone companies must unlock handsets upon request, without fee, when a consumer purchases a new phone outright (unsubsidized) without a contract. If you're contract is done, simply contact Zoomer Wireless to unlock your phone. If the phone was bought outright, it should be unlocked.
