Who Solo Mobile is
Solo Mobile is a lower-cost brand owned by Bell Mobility and run on Bell’s network. It once sold prepaid and monthly plans across Canada. Its prepaid accounts were moved to Bell Mobility years ago, and Solo stopped signing up new customers long before that. Its website and account login are still live for the customers who remain.
What changed
Solo isn’t accepting new customers, and Bell is offering existing Solo customers a move to a Bell plan. Roaming outside Canada has ended on Solo accounts, so a Solo phone no longer works abroad. Solo has also told customers on its older 3G network about a legacy network fee and the network’s shutdown, so older phones may need replacing.
If you’re a customer
You can keep using your Solo account and sign in to manage it on solomobile.ca. If you travel, you’ll need another carrier or a different plan, since Solo roaming has ended. If you take Bell’s offer to move, ask what happens to any phone balance, since a device balance may become due. For devices and help, Solo sends customers to Bell stores and dealers.
Where to look instead
If you’re leaving Solo, Bell’s own plans run on the same network, and so do its lower-cost brands Virgin Plus, Lucky Mobile and PC Mobile. Other national carriers and their brands are worth a look too. You can move your Solo number to any carrier you choose. Compare current plans below to find one that fits how you use your phone.
