Some people say that once you’ve seen one Android tablet, you’ve seen them all. Normally, this isn’t true, but in the case of the Chinon Swift-10, it actually is. There is nothing about it that can be considered unique or noteworthy. It’s your standard touchscreen-equipped Android-powered mobile computing device, and if you’re the type of person who needs nothing more than a good web browser, then this tablet from Chinon will most certainly get the job done.
It features a 1.2GHz ARM Cortex A8 CPU, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage. Its touchscreen display measures 9.7-inches diagonally and has a native resolution of 1024x768 pixels. Its other features include a 2MP rear camera, a 2MP front-facing camera, USB connectivity, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, and a microSD card slot. Its default operating system is Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which puts it on par with mid-range to high-end smartphones that run the same.
The Swift-10 is a difficult tablet to recommend for almost any use other than watching movies because of its pre-loaded software. The standard battery lasts about 5 hours of video playback, which is on par with a lot of similarly sized alternatives in its price range. But with later versions of the Android software, users will surely be able to get more out of it. The relatively high price tag still makes it kind of a bitter pill to swallow, though, and those who want to save a bit of money will want to look elsewhere.
