Finding a cheap Android-powered tablet is not that difficult. In fact, there are so many entry-level models that run the Android OS that your head will probably spin if you try to compare all the options. One example of an affordable model however is the Chinon Swift-7, which as its name suggests, comes equipped with a 7-inch multi-touch color display. It runs on a 1.2GHzARM Cortex A8 CPU and has 512MB of on-device RAM. And while it only comes with 4GB of internal storage, extra storage can be added by way of microSD cards. This is a basic tablet with entry-level specs.
Though the Swift-7 comes in a form factor that should be easy to carry around, it’s thickness and heaviness might get in the way of its portability. Its screen features a native resolution of 800x600 pixels, which is plenty good for its default OS, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but is not enough for users to enjoy HD content. It lacks 3G wireless connectivity but does have Wi-Fi and USB connectivity. It even has a VGA camera that can capture still images and record video for later viewing.
Its 7-inch screen may be good for watching movies on the go, but its battery life is rather short and only lasts 5 hours per full charge. It’s more affordable than most of the other Android-powered tablets in its category, but it also comes with less features. Not to mention, an Android smartphone would provide more value for the money. So for those who are looking to get an affordable Android tablet, it may be best to keep looking.
