In a move that probably surprised a lot of analysts, Apple has approved 3rd party internet browsers to be offered via the App Store.

Showing that they have enough trust in their very own Safari mobile internet browser, Apple has already approved several internet browsers for public distribution. The Edge Browser pictured above is one of those apps and allows you to view websites in full screen mode. It’s free to download, but not all of the browsers are free-of-charge. The Webmate app which offers tabbed browsing costs $0.99, while the Incognito browser that offers anonymous web surfing retails for $1.99.

This latest development gives iPhone owners hope that Fennec aka Mobile FireFox and Operan Mini will one day become available on the iPhone as well. We’re not keen on seeing Microsoft’s mobile IE on the iPhone, but hey, in this strange world we live in, anything’s possible.
