Here’s an interesting development for all you Google Maps aficionados. Street View as well as walking directions is now available on Google Maps mobile making it even easier for you to roam the city and find locations with the use of your mobile phone. Take note, though, that the walking directions guide is still in beta and while the Street View is indeed useful and promising, it still hasn’t covered all four corners of the globe.

Anyway, most of the Street View locations are found in the US and some in Canada so its pretty helpful regarding those locations, but outside the North American region, only Japan, Australia and France support this feature. Nevertheless, it’s worth giving it a try, even if it's just out of curiosity, as it looks more than a worthy alternative to Nokia maps.

To download, just visit m.google.com/maps on your device, or click here and enter your mobile phone number so that you'll be sent a link where you can download the app. It's currently compatible with BlackBerry devices and a host of other Java-enabled mobile phones. Take it for a spin and tell us what you think about it.
