Aside from Android’s Market, Microsoft is also prepping up their version of an online software store to rival Apple’s App Store.

While there are no specific details as to when and how it will be implemented, word has it that it might become an integral part of Windows Mobile 7 and might arrive as early as 2009. Yeah, we agree on the importance of it, but the release we're not quite sure about. It's a pretty optimistic way of looking at things especially after the Redmond company had to postpone the release of Vista several times. Anyway, we know it will be called Skymarket and will provide Windows Mobile users with a marketplace where they can purchase new software on the go.

Funny, when you look back, how the times have dramatically changed. Back in the heyday, Microsoft was pioneering innovations such as Windows Mobile for mobile devices. Now, it looks like they've taken a backseat to companies such as Apple and Google, and are just following current trends instead of setting them. Well, it's never too late for them to change their ways especially in the world of technology.
