Motorola has announced that it plans to release 34 new phones by the end of 2008, twice as many as introduced during the first six months of the year.
One of those devices will be Motorola's answer to the iPhone, according to CEO Gregory Brown, who is more than aware that the iPhone is now in its second incarnation and Motorola has yet to produce a competitor.
While Brown declined further comment, a person briefed on Motorola's development plans said that the company has been shown a device similar to HTC's Touch, complete with haptic touch interface and code named Halo.
Despite Motorola's business problems and CEO shake-ups, many believe that the inventor of the Startac and RAZR may well have a touch screen smart phone yet up its sleeve.
The good news is we'll know by the end of the year.
