Here’s a sneak peek at RIM’s follow up to their first-ever QWERTY slider, the BlackBerry Torch 9800. Aptly named as the BlackBerry Torch 2, its reported specs definitely make this upgrade worth looking forward. A 1.2GHz processor headlines its feature-set along with 14.4Mbps tri-band HSPA connectivity, a higher 640x480 resolution 3.2-inch touchscreen (vs the current 360x480), and just like the recently leaked BlackBerry Dakota, also packs NFC support, an accelerometer, magnetometer, and runs on the new BlackBerry 6.1 platform. It still comes with a 5-megapixel camera (with flash) and 512MB RAM, but doubles the internal memory to 8GB.
Aesthetically, its pretty much the same as the Torch 9800, but I bet you’ll agree with me when I say that this one's a step up from the current model in terms of specs. ETA is set for late Q3 in the US with AT&T as its carrier.
No word yet about its availability in Canada, but we’ll probably get more info on this matter once we draw closer to its supposed launch date in the US.
