greenpeaceGreenpeace released the second edition of its Green Guide and puts Nokia on the top list of most-environmentally friendly electronics manufacturer.

This is the second time in a row for Nokia, which makes it the all time leader in the Green Electronics Guide. Computers and electronic products carry harmful elements to the environment, most of which are necessary for manufacturing. However, there's also an increasing trend in the PC and electronics industry to eliminate these harmful elements. The Green Electronics Guide recognizes the efforts of manufacturers and at the same time providing the opportunity to showcase good efforts within the industry.

"The top-ranked brands have adopted a precautionary chemical policy by committing to eliminate the use of the most hazardous chemicals in their products. They have acknowledged that as producers, they bear individual responsibility for financing the take-back and responsible reuse or recycling of their own-brand discarded products," says Iza Kruszewska, Greenpeace International toxics campaigner.

Sony Ericsson has fallen from 3rd to 5th though it's rating increased while Fujitsu-Siemens improved 100% to take 3rd place. Dell was consistently 2nd. Apple is now bottom from its 11th position in the last edition and has mainatined its dismal rating of 2.7
