What should I do about my lost Apple iPhone 6?

I am with Virign.
Two months ago, I orederd a iPhone 6 64 GB by phone. Their agent made a mistake and I got a iPhone 6 16 GB instead.
Therefore, I called back and asked how can we return this phone, and one of the agent from virgin mobile said just return to the sender and there is no paper work required. So I just followed what they said and returned the phone to the post office. The post office didn't give us any tracking number, either. Now the phone has been missing for two months. We contacted both virgin mobile and Canada post. Neither of them want to take any responsibility of this. I am kind of stuck in between and don't know what I should do. Needless to say, I have already paid 500 something for a phone I have never used, and virgin mobile charged me more at the following moth, because it was a wrong order.
I just feel very frustrating right now. And really wanna my money back. Don't know anybody has any solution about it.
Thanks for reading such a long article.
