The Willcom R9 is alien technology compared to the Motofone, which has a monochromatic display that Motorola supposed would appeal to consumers in developing countries (while they could've just simply lowered the price of the RAZR).
The Willcom 9 doesn't have a camera but it can browse the Web. It doesn't have an MP3 player but it's only 11.3mm thick.
In that body and with presumably conventional technology they packed everything everyone needs in a basic cell phone, shaving a couple of entertainment features in the process. I'd feel very lonely owning this phone, but the next time I got lost into the Third World (where I live, a wrong turn or a trip to a bargain market will get you there) I'd have that much more peace of mind.
