The HyperBoom wasn’t made to answer your queries or set timers. It was made to bring the house down at large parties. And even though the coronavirus pandemic has put a dampening on partygoers for the meantime, Ultimate Ears’ big speaker somehow feels just as natural to have in my tiny apartment as a smart speaker. Part of the reason for that is because it looks good, but the main factor is its connectivity. The HyperBoom can elevate the sound experience of every device that I use, and that makes its $399 asking price far easier to swallow.

You’re unlikely to be able to use it at a big social event with family and friends anytime in the next few months. However the versatility of it’s many inputs means the Hyperboom can get plenty of use (at a socially acceptable volume) while you’re stuck working from home in lock down as a jack of all trades speaker capable of playing audio very well from your phones, tablets, TV and as an audio output for your Alexa/Google smart devices.

Cnet

A jumbo portable Bluetooth speaker with impressive sound

from Cnet

Ultimately, this is the portable speaker for someone who's tired of sacrificing sound quality for size. Yes, it's bigger, heavier and pricier than all those compact Bluetooth speakers out there. But it looks and sounds more like a "real" speaker in your home and is still portable when you want to take it on the go.

Ultimate Ears HYPERBOOM is a beauty and a beast. As a beauty, I would definitely consider this for general music listening – with the caveat that BT is SBC – MP3 radio quality sound. For better sound use the AUX-IN or Optical inputs. A pair (in stereo) would be refined enough for lounge room use. As a beast, there is little to compete with these for transportability, volume, music quality and battery life.

Hyper sound

from Wired

With 24 hours of battery life, an IPX4 rating, and astonishingly good sound, it's the large Bluetooth speaker to beat.

Modern Accessory Review

An incredible speaker

from Modern Accessory Review

Being a big fan of the JBL Boombox, the Hyperboom is now in my opinion its biggest competitor with that incredible audio. Thanks to the portability, good enough durability, audio, and the app this speaker is definitely meant for those of you who want to use this for events or parties whether its inside or outside.

A bigger boom

from Sound Guys

If you like UE but felt like its previous offerings weren't loud enough to power your parties, then the Hyperboom is perfect for you. Sure it's expensive, but it fills a niche that UE couldn't previously fill.

Digital Trends

Big bass in a Bluetooth speaker

from Digital Trends

The UE Hyperboom is a big speaker, and an even bigger step for the brand. Just about everything about this speaker, from its assortment of features to its roof-raising sound, is designed to take the household Bluetooth landscape by storm. Even without the Wi-Fi, competitors may want to batten down the hatches.
