One less question to ask

The Echo Dot has for a long time been one of the very best bargains in tech. Now you can get one with a clock on it for an extra £10. If you don’t want the clock, save money and buy the cheaper one. At this price the Echo Dot with Clock is really hard to find fault with, and it’s bound to be heavily discounted come Black Friday.

Making the Echo Dot a speaker that people could actually be satisfied listening to music on is truly just a bit of icing on the cake. Is Alexa a perfect assistant? Far from it. But if having a smart home, rather than a smart assistant, is your goal then the third-generation Echo Dot is almost certainly just what you need. That is, unless you already have a Google-run smart home, of course.

Better all round

The new Echo Dot is a slight improvement over the old one in every way. It’s more attractive, sounds better, hears you just as well, still has a 3.5mm socket and Bluetooth audio in and out. It isn’t a patch on the larger Echo speakers, which are almost twice the price, but just about beats its closest rival, the Google Home Mini, on sound and connectivity.

The new Amazon Echo Dot can give many of the latest portable speakers a run for their money, considering its super-portability, versatility element, the improved sound quality and other smart functions that it can do. The smart  functions of the device let you do a lot more than the usual Bluetooth speaker. As for music, you can enjoy it in the privacy of your room and if required, connect the Echo Dot with another, more powerful speaker for a louder and richer sound.

Improved sound and design, but ux still spotty

from Firstpost

If you’ve never bought a smart speaker before and are curious as to what’s on offer, the Amazon Echo Dot is the right entry point in this segment. If you had an Echo Dot from the earlier generation, don’t bother with this. Get a powerful Bluetooth speaker instead and pair the Dot with it for better sound.

A good way of starting off with a smart speaker for your home

from NDTV

If you are on a strict budget you can opt for the new Echo Dot. It has better audio quality than the older Echo Dot as well as the Google Home Mini, and while the audio quality is acceptable for casual use, you can pair it with a better external speaker if you want.
