Good displays, good battery life and great ergonomics are what define media tablets. I’m not a fan of the amount of glare I get from the Lenovo Tab 2 A8, but I think it qualifies as a terrific media tablet.

The speakers are incredible, the battery life is pretty impressive and Lenovo definitely got the weight and design right. Lenovo was also smart to include support for external media, allowing you to add more storage. If you’re in the market for a decent entertainment, the Lenovo Tab 2 A8 is a good buy.

Digital Trends

Perfect if you’re on a tight budget

from Digital Trends

The Lenovo Tab 2 A8-50 is good value at $130. It has a solid build, great sounding stereo speakers, a near stock Android experience, and great battery life. The performance holds it back from greatness, and it should definitely be considered a budget tablet with budget performance.

It’s worth considering if you’re looking for a casual use tablet, or as a starter slate for the kids. It even makes a great secondary tablet to leave on the coffee table. However, if you’re looking for a workhorse that can cope with anything without complaint, the Lenovo Tab 2 A8-50 probably isn’t for you....

Laptop Magazine

A very good budget tablet, but not the best performer at this price

from Laptop Magazine

With its amazing battery life and bright, colorful screen, Lenovo's Tab 2 A8 does its best to counter the adage of "you get what you pay for." With its amazing battery life and bright, colorful screen, Lenovo's Tab 2 A8 does its best to counter the adage of "you get what you pay for." It's not as fast as other budget 8-inch tablets, but it lasts much longer on a charge. This may not be a device for gaming or multitasking, but if you're looking for a tablet for Web surfing, listening to music or watching video -- just not all at once -- the $130 Tab 2 is a fine choice.

The Tab 2 A8 is a respectable tablet for its asking price of $129. Display brightness and battery life are both above average and sound quality is quite good considering its budget market. Unfortunately, not much else about the device can be praised. We can't help but feel that both its 1 GB RAM and 800p resolution display feel lacking for a tablet in 2015. It's also a little heavier than other 8-inch models and its touchscreen makes a habit of registering inputs incorrectly.

If you liked the original TAB A8 tablet, you'll find the second generation is even better. If you didn't like the first version, now might be the time to give the model a second shot. The newer version doesn't feel as cheap as the first A8, with a slimmer body, more angular edges, and improved hardware. The performance is fairly top notch, and as a general Android slate for general tablet-y things like playing mobile games, browsing the Web, chatting, and toting around work documents, it holds up perfectly fine.
