Informr score
The Asus Transformer Prime currently has an Informr score of 8.9 out of 10. This score is based on our evaluation of 33 sources including reviews from users and the web's most trusted critics.

The Asus Transformer Prime is a 10.1-inch Android-powered tablet with a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and 1GB RAM, plus at least 32GB of internal storage. Its default operating system is Android 3.2 Honeycomb but an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is available. It offers a total standby time of nearly two weeks per charge, which translates to around 10 hours of non-stop video playback or almost 6 hours of Web surfing with Wi-Fi.

Available in two colors, Champagne Gold and Amethyst Gray, it weighs in at a little less than 600 grams. It isn’t light by any means, but it is lighter than some competing products. The touchscreen display has a native resolution of 1280x800 pixels, and there’s a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass placed on top in order to protect it from scratches and other potential damages. Underneath the sturdy screen lies a a gyroscope and a bunch of other sensors for proximity, motion, and ambient light.

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity are both available as standard, although a Wi-Fi hotspot feature is not in the cards. HD video playback on supported TVs is a feature with the built-in HDMI-out port, and the 8MP main camera at the back should serve as a great source of HD content through video recording when it isn’t being used to take pictures. And before you think that this particular Asus tablet is good for nothing but entertainment, take note of the fact that it has a Document viewer which supports DOC/DOCX, PDF, XLS, PPT/PPTX, JPG, and GIF files.

It may fall through on certain aspects, but the Asus Transformer Prime may deliver a far better experience overall than most other Android tablet alternatives.

Need to Know: Transformer Prime

1. Relatively quick charging time and long-lasting battery life. (The Good)

2. Layer of Corning Gorilla Glass gives the screen much-needed extra protection. (The Good)

3. Doesn’t support SIM cards for 3G data. (The Bad)

4. Default operating system is old and outdated version of Android. (The Bad)
