CNET

A clever but expensive solution for integrating your cellular line into your home

from CNET

Overall, we think it is excellent value for the money if you like the convenience of a cell phone but prefer the comfort and security of using a normal telephone. The value is especially noticeable when using it with a cordless phone, since you can just park your cell phone in the location with the best signal, then use the cordless phone around the house. Do note however, that Bluetooth signals sometimes interfere with Wi-Fi or 2.5Ghz cordless signals, so try to keep your devices far enough from each other. We tried ours with a 900Mhz cordless signal, and everything... Full review

Giving you the freedom to ditch that landline without giving up the comfort of a regular telephone

from CNET

Setting the Xlink up is really easy. Simply attach the unit to a power supply, connect it to your regular desk telephone (whether corded or cordless) via a phone cable, and the first line button (Line 1) will start flashing. At this point, you should set your Bluetooth-enabled phone to its pairing mode, and it will immediately detect "XTech Gateway" in a list of devices. Pair it with the 1234 pairing code, hit connect, and you're good to go. If you wish to pair a second cell phone, simply press another line button (in our case, we picked Line 2), and hold it until... New home phone is awesome!

Sounds great, works great! I also receive all of my cell phone calls on the home phones when I am at home. I just walk into the general area of the xlink and set my cell phone down to charge. It connects and all my home wireless phones ring when I receive a call. Now when we go on vacation, we take this extra cell phone and let the kids take it when we separate. Why have a land line? Less

works as advertised

BUT, the instructions are not explicit. Make sure you install the device as close to the origin of the "bell" run as possible to insure that your land line and portable phones ring and operate as advertised

I had planned to only connect the BTTN Xlink to a single cordless phone base supporting several phones, but quickly realized how easy it would be to set it up to use with any set of selected landline phones in the house.... and at any location that was convenient to store my cell phones. First, the setup was really easy: I downloaded the latest firmware, and paired the Bluetooth to our two Motorola W766 cell phones. Even though I plan to store the cell phones less than 10 ft away from the Xlink as most reviews recommended, I discovered everything would work as far away as 35 ft...and with little noise; however, at that distance the Bluetooth connection could easily be lost with the slightest changes. But at shorter distances, the connection seemed solid. So I decided the system was worth more effort to connect it to selected, if not all, phones in the house. Our house, like most modern homes, was wired to support two landlines but we only use one. That is, there are 4 telephone wires coming into most homes and it only takes two (the red and green ones) to operate what would be called "Line 1". To use the other set of wires to distribute the Xlink output throughout the house, one MUST disconnected the "Line 2" wires from the telephone company where the telephone company wires come into the house. You would then able to put the equivalent of a Triplex Two Line Adapter (SOF24435) Category: Miscellaneous Telephone Accessories (There are equivalent adapters that do not have the L1+L2 output which is not needed here) into any phone outlet, plug the Xlink line input into the "Line 1" output of the adapter, and the Xlink line out (which would normally go to the phone) into the "Line 2" jack of the adapter. This results in the combination of cell phone and landline phones being located in the "Line 2" Wires of the home. For every phone that you want to access this combination, you will need another adapter, with each phone plugged into the "Line 2" output of the adapter. Works perfectly for me and my wife! Less

Does what is says

from amazon
A good product that does exactly what it says it does. I would be nice if the bluetooth range was further so that the best place to charge the phone would still be in range of the gateway.
