While most 360 cameras focus on the 360 aspect first, GoPro seems to have taken a different approach. On the Fusion, 360 is really a delivery vehicle for OverCapture, and it's a tremendously fun and creative way to produce flat frame videos. In the process, GoPro has also tackled two difficult aspects of spherical capture – stitching and stabilization – quite effectively.
The GoPro Fusion is capable of shooting incredibly good 360 video, but the difficult workflow and flawed software make it difficult to use.

GoPro seems to have built a superior hardware and failed to complement it with a usable software. I would have preferred to see GoPro stitching the video on the device itself and allowing to offload it to a computer and letting users share it to platforms like Facebook and YouTube.

For a 360 camera, the Fusion is as complete as they come, but it hasn’t completely propelled the category to the next level, as we had hoped when we had our initial hands-on with the product. Yes, it offers a rugged design, mostly pleasant experience, and enough control to keep power users happy, but it leaves unsolved many problems inherent to 360 cameras.
At the moment, the GoPro Fusion would well be the best affordable 360-degree camera. It is also the easiest to use from an editing perspective. But given that we are dealing with really heavy files here, GoPro might need to improve the sharing capabilities.

Read full reviewAs with virtually all GoPro products, the company tends to make incredibly well designed and impressive hardware (as long as it doesn’t fly). It’s easy to shoot the footage, and it does what you expect it to out on your adventure. But it’s the software that tends to let it down.

The GoPro Fusion's hardware is great. You can turn 360-degree video into a special effect shot that would have baffled Hollywood a decade ago, and both image quality and stabilisation are excellent.

For GoPro’s first 360-degree VR camera, the GoPro Fusion gets a lot right. I say that now after it’s been out for a few months, because the experience at launch was considerably poorer.

Read full reviewThe Fusion is too expensive for what feels like an unfinished product. The hardware is solid but the software has a lot of catching up to do.

The GoPro Fusion is a 360-degree camera that's stupidly simple to shoot with and capable of producing very impressive video. Its real win is OverCapture, though, which on iPhone is utterly brilliant.
