Small, flawed, and mighty

from iMore
The Series 3 Apple Watch with LTE is the best watch Apple has ever made. It's also the most flawed: Even if there weren't Wi-Fi issues, any deal that involves carriers is by its very nature have growing pains. If you can deal with the occasional Airplane mode toggle, you'll have a chance to peek into the future: A land where Apple offers users a chance to explore the world with just the AirPods and the Apple Watch, no slab of electronics-packed glass necessary... Not a replacement for a phone, and is not supposed to be

from Daring Fireball
With the addition of cellular networking in Series 3, Apple Watch gains something essential: independence. It’s not just a cool feature. It’s aimed smack dab in the middle of the two things people like best about Apple Watch: notifications and fitness. When are you separated from your iPhone? When you’re exercising. What do you miss most when you’re away from your phone? Messages and phone calls... Full review

A complete and utter game-change

from EFTM

This won’t be the last eSIM watch, it won’t be the last smart device with number sharing or “One Number” compatibility – but we will look back on this device as the game changer. I can genuinely foresee a time when I go days without needing a phone, in fact if you wanted to go super futuristic I can foresee a time when we don’t need phones. We will always need companion screens, we may have them in our cars, we may carry them around when needed – but as for that funny question about the new iPhones “Do they make calls?”, I think the... Worth the upgrade, but not if you own a Series 2

from The Straits Times
If you bought the Series 2 last year, you can hold the upgrade by just upgrading to watchOS 4. But if you are still using the original Apple Watch, you might want to get the Series 3 as the features and performance upgrade are significant. Unless, you want to wait for the cellular version... Ticks all the right boxes if you’re willing to pay

from Sunday Express
There’s no question that the Apple Watch Series 3 is the best wearable the US technology firm has ever made. In fact, it’s the best smartwatch full-stop. This device is packed with features which not only bring notifications to your wrist but also keeps an eye on your health and even lets you pay for your weekly shop via Apple Pay. And now it does all of this without the need for an iPhone in your pocket... Approaching independence

from Mobile Syrup
If you didn't find the Apple Watch useful before, it's likely that the Series 3 isn't going to change your mind. Cellular connectivity is an interesting novelty, but as it stands right now, not everyone will find it useful. It will be interesting to see if more developers take advantage of the Series 3's independence and if Apple will eventually even allow them to do so... Full review

Finally feels like a real smartwatch

from BuzzFeed
The Apple Watch Series 3 is a decent smartwatch, especially for athletes, as long as you’re willing to accept some of the tradeoffs (battery life for compact form factor, Apple’s own apps vs. third-party offerings). The new cellular feature is great for leaving your phone behind during workouts (then taking an Uber back or stopping at Whole Foods for a refueling snack). It’s also good insurance if you’re the kind of person who remembers to put on a watch every morning but tends to leave your phone behind... Full review

Ditch the iPhone

from USA Today
The Apple Watch has always emphasized health and fitness, and makes improvements through the latest software to the heart rate monitor app. Newly detailed measurements include your resting heart rate and walking heart rate. And the watch can send potential lifesaving notifications that can warn you when your heart rate exceeds a designated threshold during a period in which you are otherwise inactive for 10 minutes... Cellular connectivity might be the feature that wins everyone round

from The Independent
The Apple Watch is an immaculately built, elegant-looking watch with brilliantly configurable apps and features. If you’ve been waiting for the right time to buy one, the addition of cellular connectivity means this may be the right moment... Full review
